@arose99 How did you do it? Your score is awesome, can you please tell me your preparation program cause i sucked at june SAT and wanna recover at october
@FlyingCeline - My son also scored a 1550 (first attempt at new SAT - 1410 composite, 2090 on old SAT) He used the Kallis SAT Pattern Strategy book
@FlyingCeline I just used the Khan academy practice tests and did all of the practice quizzes (that are on single reading/writing passages). I think there is also a list of math concepts on the site.
Oops - I just reread arose99’s post. 1550 was his last one. I’m amazed the June one was taken too. When my son got 1550, I said “Ok, you’re done now”
@delilahxc , D came out of the testing center and said I scored at least 1500 and I am done.
@delilahxc I signed up for May and June thinking I would cancel my June registration if my May scores were good enough, but May scores didn’t come out until after June test date. I took the June one with a little more preparation just to be safe bc I had no clue what my May scores were like.
That makes sense. The score delays on the new SAT are really quite absurd.
@staticjava tbh I completely forget all of my passages. I could probably remember if you named them, so its unlikely I had the Ben Franklin one
@JKMSNJ No i hadn’t taken any course but I wanted to qualify for SET and try something online if its free.
Hey guys I believe they reported my SAT scores wrong because the curve they gave me doesn’t make sense. I got 4 wrong on reading and got a 36, and @gsw1999 said he also missed 4 and got a 37?? Also for my writing I got 3 wrong and I got again a 36??? even though I should’ve gotten a 37? I got 800 on math, but my sat was 1520 even though shouldn’t it be 1540 (740 & 800)??? How can I contact College Board about this? thanks
Should I try calling them? And if so… which number? They seem to have lots of phone numbers…
@Lokikajaky I think the questions are just weighted differently based on difficulty (for instance, you’ll lose more points missing an easy question than if you missed a hard one). For example, -1 for me was a 39.5 but for others it was a 40.
@Lokikajaky Unfortunately, I think you’re stuck with that score. If you read a few pages earlier in the thread, some of us were discussing the math scaling, since it seemed different for different people and depends on which version of the test you took.
Wow if that’s true then the SAT makers are extremely silly… Why can’t they make all the versions the same questions but just change the order of the questions and keep the curve the same for everybody. Unfair that people can have different difficulty tests just because they got lucky/unlucky and get screwed over by the curve.
No, this is not how the test is scored.
@marvin100
Lol I don’t understand how there are so many people who believe questions are weighted differently. Have they not taken a single practice test before the actual test?
Would a 1470 be sufficient for top 20 schools? I know it won’t help but will it hurt?
Probably won’t hurt much, but it depends on the subscores. If it’s 800/670 that’s a lot worse than 750/720, for example.
Okay I may not need to retake after all! It’s a 740/730 split. Thanks
@SincererLove @JKMSNJ I got call last week from CTY informing me that i qualified for SET program. I have yet to recieve anything in mail. I hope the programs online are free. I guess the new criteria for new sat score is same as before.
