June 4 2011 SAT Reasoning Post-Test Discussion

i think it should be 105, thats what i put. trapezoid = must have parallel so 75 + x must = 180 im pretty sure

where else has it been answered? i want to make sure it was B
and yes, that one was 105.

yes it was B, 40. can we please talk about some CR now, this whole thread is math, just take the 10 minutes to look through, all the controversy has been answered

I had a lot of trouble with the plants and gardening passage. I had trouble even concentrating on it because it was so boring. What did you guys get for the question about if the bee is an agent, recipient or something?

i said agent

i said recipient, but i think I’m wrong. I had agent but changed it literally at the last second (borderline cheating lol)

ur doin it wrong man.
cheating is supposed to raise your score

I put recipient, but its obviously agent, dumb sports giving me the impression an agent was a person…

For 1 to 100 without multiples of 3 and 3 other number, I put down 1. I think that makes perfect sense but how about you guys?

every number is a multiple of 1. that wold leave no remaining number

Exactly, so to have 64 numbers left over, 1 must be one of them

Oh crap, can someone tell me the actual question?

Oh crap, actually, can someone post the actual question?

Question goes something like this:

In the set of numbers 1 through 100, all the multiples of 3 are removed. Also, all the multiples of n are removed. If 63 numbers remain, what is one possible value of n?

Answer:

If 63 numbers remain, that means 100-63 = 37 were removed.

After removing the multiples of 3, 33 numbers were removed.

This means, that after removing multiples of n, only 4 were removed.

Let’s try n=25: That means that 25, 50, 75, 100 were removed, but remember 75 was already removed (it is a multiple of 3)… so n=25 doesn’t work.

Let’s try n=20: That means 20, 40, 60, 80, 100 are removed, but remember 60 was already removed, thus only 4 numbers were removed!

One possible such n is 20

Wow I read the question wrong… Shoot me

How about the question that had the choice not enough information has been given for the answer? It was some angle question

Another possible value for n in the multiples of 3 question was 17.
17 x 1 = 17
17 x 2 = 34
17 x 3 = 51
17 x 4 = 68
17 x 5 = 85

And then you cancel out 51 since it is also a multiple of 3 (meaning it’s already been taken out)

That gives you 4 values…
67 - 4 = 63

16, 18, 19 also other values…
The question about the trapezoid was 105, not not enough information

It was 105.
