June 7th, 2014 test date...serious question

So I want to take Math level 2 right after I'm done with Pre-Cal in 11th grade, so on June 7th. But I really can't take 2 tests, SATs and Math lvl 2 on the same day. But I shouldn't take Math 2 in May...so should I take the SATs in May? I'm going to self-study for Math 2 because it's a relatively strong subject for me, but SATs...I think my parents are going to pay for Kaplan classes for me but I'm not sure...advice anyone?

Hello? I want to know if Kaplan classes are worth it since there will be no way for me to improve on SATs myself since I have to do a Science Fair Project, study for AP Bio and SAT Math 2.
And also the question about which test I should take.

It’s really about your schedule, there’s no right or wrong with dates…
And no, don’t go to Kaplan. If anything go to a Hagwon but not to Kaplan. Although, Math II is really easy so just buy a Barron’s review book and you’ll be fine.

What was your PSAT score? I ask because you may not need SAT prep if your score is high enough on its own. I improved with a PSAT score of 172 sophmore year to an SAT of 2110 junior year without an expensive Kaplan course.

Take the SAT in May and SAT math 2 in June. Remember you can always retake the SAT fall of your senior year. Good luck!

you can definitely self study for the SAT… I did it with a way more strenuous schedule than you. Going to Kaplan would actually take more time than to just self-study. If you already have a relatively high score, then you don’t have to l learn any of the test taking techniques that Kaplan would give you. Just study vocab and math and grammar and do lots of practice tests. Increased from 1980 to 2330 just doing that.

Your need of a class most closely depends on your starting SAT score, either from a previous administration or an accurate practice test. Once you know that, you can start budgeting time.

In 9th grade, my score was 142, in 10th grade I didn’t study, I got 162. I didn’t get my 11th grade PSAT score yet. I’m aiming for a 2000+. The problem with me is because I’m bad at controlling time, I have the blue book already. Yeah the Math 2 is easy I guess but I looked over some of the questions, some I haven’t learned and some I don’t understand fully.

@ThePariah lol, we all have the same timing problem. That gets fixed with practice. And for Math II it’s stuff that you learn in pre-calc or sometimes it’s something really simple that just requires memorizing some equation/method. Get a book and you’ll be set.

Thanks, when should I start studying SATs? I have the blue book but I NEVER found a time to start studying for it. I believe I can easily get a 700 in math but Reading and Writing I struggle to go above 550 even if I try really hard.
So my plan is…(I just took SAT 2 Chinese a couple days ago btw)
I want to forget about subject tests for now, I’m going to study for Math II right after I take my SATs the first time, so I have about 3-4 weeks.
From Thanksgiving until end of April, I will be doing my Science Fair Project, studying for AP Bio (only AP class given in my high school, so btw will colleges think bad of that?) and also my SATs.
I plan to take 1-2 more subject tests after summer next year, I’ll study during the summer.

Honestly I don’t have to do the Science Fair project, but I need outstanding EC to get into ivy league. I’m not into sports.

hello??? o.o

How about take SAT Biology subject test in May since you have already studied biology for the AP exam? Then take SAT reasoning test in June and Math 2 in October.

Well the problem is I have to take AP Chinese test too. That’s on May 7th, SAT is on May 3rd, and AP Bio test is on May 12th. And Math 2 is more important to me so if I take that in October I might forget what I learned in Pre-Cal the whole year lol.

Here’s my current schedule, tell me if this works
April 2014 - SATs
May - AP Chinese and AP Bio
June - Math II
Oct - SAT II Bio (I want to take it in June after I’m done with the class but I can 't do 2 tests in 1 day, I’ll fail)
Dec - SAT 2nd time

Good enough?
I’m planning to not take history, I tried some of the questions, it’s super hard.
And how long should I study for SATs, how many months, to get 200 score increase in Reading and Writing from 500 to 700?

If you plan to apply ED or EA, it’s best to save October test date for the second sitting of the SAT reasoning tests if you need to retake them.

Oh. What’s ED or EA? I guess I’l take SAT 2nd time in October, can I take Bio in November?

I know what ED and EA are now but idk the benefits of them. Someone please tell me? And please tell me if that schedule is good enough(October I’m taking SAT 2ND time). Should I take Math 2 and Bio in June on the same day?

And I just noticed there’s no April for SATs so either March 8th or May 3rd…darn.

Sorry for the multiple posts…
So here’s my new schedule. Good enough?
April 2014 - SATs (March 8th)
May - AP Chinese (May 7th) and AP Bio (May 12th)
June - Math II and Biology (Same Day - June 7th)

I meant SATs on March 8th and Biology SAT 2 on May 3rd.
