June ACT Math Section

@sean
because they enjoy watching us mere mortals fail

@sean it was a trick question. If they wanted the rounded form of the number it would say the 85th term is “closest to” what? and it came out 28.3333 so that wouldnt even round up to 6 it would stay at 5 if you really did round it.

Well I knew it was 28 R 1 so it was a 5. I just rounded the 5 to a 6 because there was a 7 behind it in the sequence

hahah, nooo! it asked for the “85th term,” and the 85th term only!!! not “what would this be rounded”?

Does anyone remember the exact question for the chair one? Like the angle given and everything? Everyone’s saying the answer is 160 but I really don’t remember putting that so I wanna work out the problem and see what I put.

The chair thing was:
110 degrees with the bottom
that makes it 70 degrees
then 70+90 = 160

I thought this section was fairly easy, only one I had to guess was the lowest common denominator one and the factor one.

Thank you david.
I guess I got it wrong.
Wow I was hoping for a 34-35 on the math section but so far I already got -2, not even counting dumb mistakes.

What is the LCD question you guys are talking about? The one with the 17^2 and 23^3? Or the 18, 24, 64 one? I thought both were pretty straightforward.

Was the answer the one with the highest exponents that occurs?

-0 so far!!!

do you guys think -1 on this test will be a 36?

Yes. Just like the LCD of 1/12 and 1/15 is 60 because 1/12 = 1/(43) and 1/15 = 1/(35), so the LCD is 1/(345).

^could be. it might not though.

I was really surprised that there was a proof question…crazy.

A really interesting math section this time around…

Oh good, I might only have like -1 or -2

Gotta think -1 was a 36

There were a plethora of hard questions, and even if you could answer them correctly, they were very time consuming. I would imagine you would have to be very intelligent to blaze through all of these, and get them all right.

Sent from my Droid using CC App

i didnt think math was that bad. some kids were like “oh everything after #20 was so hard. like that one way you find an angle if its not a right triangle…” (law of cosines, which was GIVEN on the test!) i didnt guess on anything. i hope i got a 36! omg, omg, omg, i would be SO happy!

speaking of blazing though things, the girl in front of me finished her essay after SEVEN minutes!!! ummm, okay then…im sure that was a masterpiece

It did seem more time consuming than the SAT usually is… I usually get 10-15 minutes extra on the SAT, but I only got like 5 minutes on the ACT
