June SAT: Chemistry Post-Test Discussion

@gfish it might have been this one, which is VO2:
[Vanadium(IV) oxide - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia](Vanadium(IV) oxide - Wikipedia)

was the hydrocarbon isomer question TTCE?

It’s VO2 because you start out with the sample mass of 5.1 g for V. If after the reaction (or whatever happened), and your end sample is 8.3, then you used 3.2 g of O (not in diatomic form because we’re sticking it onto something…yeah can’t find the right words for it but hopefully my meaning is understandable). Now, let’s see what happens when we convert all values into moles:
5.1g (1mol/51g V) = .1 moles
3.2g (1mol/16g O) = .2moles
Thus, the ratio of V to O is 1:2, and the formula is VO2

i think so jrp
ivybridge you just explained why it’s ft…reactants>products so it decreased

dammit you guys sure that Na is the one that doesnt exist? I put S…

[Periodic Table of Elements: Sodium - Na (EnvironmentalChemistry.com)](Periodic Table of Elements: Sodium - Na (EnvironmentalChemistry.com))

[Alkali metal - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia](<a href=“Alkali metal - Wikipedia”>Alkali metal - Wikipedia)

I think that question is cleared up now.

It was definitely lowest ionization energy - Cs. What did you guys put for the separating Iron and Sulfur (?) matching question. Magnet?

Exactly… so it’s FT.

Crap, I put S for the “doesn’t exist in nature” one.
And… V2O5.
Poop.
That’s -2 already.
I highly doubt I got an 800 now… :(

chewy, thanks

so far -2 only, the Na question and for the question in which something vaporized I put heat of combustion :</p>

EDIT: -3 since I put that acid in water is wrong for titration.

im thinking the curve for an 800 will prolly be a -4. seem reasonable.

For iron sulfur mixture, i put magnet.

can someone confirm that the vaporize question was H of sublimation? I put combustion

I left two blank and I think I got around -3/4 wrong  I forgot to put a CE for one because I doubted myself- I once heard that on average there are 2-3 CEs so I freaked and left it TT.
And the metal that reacts best with water one? I totally forgot and put a random metal T__T

Gah, I hope I can get above a 750. Do you guys think I should cancel my score and retake it in October?

It was heat of sublimation since it mentioned vaporizing a solid.

Does anyone remember the question and answer to the NaF and NaAt one?

wasnt it heat of formation?

dammit. -3 so far…

I got 4 CE’s though :D

It was NaF. I believe it’s because fluorine is the most electronegative element.

@ tamlin, it was NaF

^Thanks. What was the question, though? Was it asking for highest/lowest boiling/melting point…etc.?
