*Official CHEMISTRY (5/6) Thread*

omg I almost ran out of time~~!!

I didn't spend too much time on any question and tried to pace myself.. but still! kinda rushed the last few questions. arggghh~!!

how did you guys do?

I think the difficulty was not too bad.. tho some of the questions from the first part was quite difficult..for me.

For me, I finished in 45 mins, so time wasn't a factor. I did massive overprep ( I think I did ever chem SAT paper in existence) so I was quite prepared. Overall, I did rather well :)

I didn't do any prep. When I signed up I figured I'd be prepping for the AP anyway, and that the material would overlap. But I haven't done ANYTHING for AP Chem, so I haven't done anything for SAT Chem either.

I really, really want an 800, though, and won't be satisfied with anything below it. I'm not TOTALLY confident, but... I don't know. There's no other date I can take it (I don't want to pay late fees for June) and I'm positive I got 750+, so... yeah.

I finished in about 45-50 minutes.

yeah i was running out of time in the end and i had to rush for alot of the questions at the end :(

Don't discuss questions until 12 PM.

I don't we are ever suppose to discuss questions

http://www.google.com/search?q=define%3A+sieve&start=0&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&client=firefox-a&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official

It was a little harder than I thought.

hard! char

So was sieve right?

idk...thats what i put

theoneo: what part of Nj are you from?

I don't think sieve was right.

what was the right answer?
magnet, extraction with water??

i think its sublime, iodide compounds have a tendency for this

The first part was unusually confusing, but the rest was really easy.
When are we allowed to discuss the questions?

i put sublime...it couldnt have been water cuz wouldnt the potassium react?

so basically it's 2 solids and 1 liquid, right?

hm... I think none of the methods really work with just 1 step..

i said extraction with liquid...cuz the KI would form KOH and HI...and u could then take out the sand and iron...and then evap the water..leaving KI...so yeah it would have to be multistep

K+ doesn't react with water (at least I don't think it does). K by itself reacts with water.

smder, that's what I put too.

did the question say the method should separate all 3 substances individually?
