June SAT Critical Reading

"Salutary"...no

^ no, i forget what i put, but it wasn't that.

I also put compared self to younger students.

for the allusion one i said his own vandalism created a parallel between himself and the students...another possible answer was something about him maturing...

@krazy: I did.

Wow I think I got most of these. Score!

Can someone explain to me the fridge one? I still think it could be an allegory

did anyone put saluatary for the question regarding the chinese litereture (SC)

^ I did put that ^

The first vandalism question had something to do with the former vandals in NYC. I said they were in art s"showcases" or whatever

^ i think i put caught by authorities...but i kind of guessed

I put the co-op one.

no one else put self deride students

no, i didn't...

Co-op, because he's talking about the lack of vandals in New Orleans. The reason there aren't any, is because all the good artists, rather than painting graffiti, do regular art. Authorities would make sense, but you can't infer that from the passage.

for the people who put self-depreciating humor can u give me an explanation

he referred to himself as god and the students as peasants

Oh, and then the question about why it took so long to reach New Orleans..what was the abswr?

^ true true @ godfatherbob.

I put, because the people were not receptive to antiauthoritarianism.

i put humor b/c the sentence said something like: "blah blah peasants, i mean students"...this to me is an attempt at humor.

Did Anyone Not Get The Vandalism/graffiti Passage?

Yyeah, I found the peasants, i mean students, funny too.

Yeah, a major hint was that he kept "correcting" his peasant metaphors. Also, the entire tone of the passage made it seem like he admired the students. The point of writing the passage now was that he'd realized he used to be one of them; he wouldn't continue to mock them.

I put something like society is slow to change

yeah but hes not making fun of himself; he's making fun of the students

so it can't be self-depreciating humor he must be deriding the students
