should i take it or not? what is the downfall of taking it so soon after i just took the May SAT?

pros vs. cons...what are they?

should i take it or not? what is the downfall of taking it so soon after i just took the May SAT?

pros vs. cons...what are they?

no pro and con. if you dont think you will be ready dont take it. you can always take it again for practice

…or take sat IIs

^can’t take SAT II, haven’t prepped at all yet…I was gonna take those in November or something…is that too late for top schools?

Also, I really messed up on Math, and i dont know about Writing…CR i’m hoping for 700 or something.
So, really, by taking the June SAT, I think I give myself a shot at 800M again, who knows about CR if i’d improve or not, and maybe an improvement in W.

Is it worth it or not?

And does it look bad if I took the SAT 3 times, and each time did really good on one section, ok on the others, but superscored I’d have an awesome score? Would colleges care?

bump…im pretty sure others are considering this decision too, so this would be helpful for many others as well.

I’m taking it in June, not sure if that’ll affect your decision-making process though :D

^lol, i’m so confused though. so are subject test dates on the SAME dates as actual SAT I dates?

Also, when is the latest date I can take the SAT + SAT IIs for ED???

yes, sat iis are administered the same dates as the SAT I (except for March when only sat i’s are given)

latest for ED’s is October I believe

ahhh! so what should I do then? Should I just prep for the subject tests and write them in June? How much effort + work goes into getting 770+ on 2 subject tests?

And if I were to apply ED…do I need everything in by Nov. 1st? including SAT IIs?

Well I am very skilled at math but careless mistakes have prevented me from getting 800 in all 3 SAT attempts. I am taking the SAT IIs in June and will probably get 800 in both Physics and Maths IIC (hopefully make up for my 770 in the SAT reasoning for math). Depending on the results of those SAT IIs and the May SAT I will decide which I will take again in October, if any. If I get lower than 2250 in this test then most probably this one, if I get lower than 770 or 780 for the subject tests then I will take those. If both then I will go with whichever is worse. Thats my plan, you could adapt your plan in a similar way to suit you?

i dont know what my best bet is…how hard is it to prep for Bio and Math II? in one month to get 770+

help me out guys! how long/difficult is SAT II Bio to prep for? Also, Math II.

I knew most of the material in Math IIc, but I haven’t done that kind of math since 9th grade, so I prepped for about 2 weeks prior to Saturday.

^what do you think you got on it? and how did you know the material in gr.9? doesn’t it have tough stuff like pre-calc. and things like that?

aslo, what other subject test did you take and how long did it take to prep for it?

Why don’t you just do SAT in October and do your SAT II’s in June (since it is based on material learned in your course, it should still be fresh in your brain).

@ViggyRam: I think I got an 800 on it, unless I made some REALLY stupid mistakes. So far on the Math II thread I’m on track for an 800.

@dwarfwarri, I can’t just take SAT IIs because our Canadian curriculum isn’t like the US…we learn a lot of bio in grade 12…grade 11 won’t be nearly enough for SAT IIs.

I’m just worried that i’m gonna end up missing all EA deadlines…what’s the advantage to EA? I’m trying to understand…do you have a better chance of getting in? For top school like Ivys, does it matter when you apply (apply earlier = better chance or no?)?

Do what I’m doing: I took the May SAT, I have NO IDEA how I did on it, and I’ve already registered for June SAT. So when I get my scores back, I will decide if I have to take the June one or not. If I don’t have to take it, do nothing in June… prepare for the SAT II’s during the summer (they’re easier anyway), and take them in October. You’ll receive the scores before it’s time to apply for ED.

you don’t necessarily have a better chance of getting in if you apply early action or early decision. it is generally negligible (i may be wrong), but it shows interest so that is a good thing. if you are very interested in a school and want to apply early, it may be best to finish all your required testing (SAT IIs) in June, and work on additional testing (retaking SAT I or SAT IIs) next year for regular decision. You only have October for EA as the EA deadline is November 1. Either way you will be running under a tight schedule. It may be best to sign up for the June SAT IIs and just study intensely. There has to be a couple of tests whose topics you’ve learned already. Consider Math 2 for one if you’ve taken precal/trig.

there is a lot of information on the college board website about EA and ED and your other concerns. i dont know anything about international student admissions so it may be different.

^thanks crazybandit…So, I will register for the June SAT, but it’s so dumb! I will miss tryouts for team ontario baseball…so it’s like a sticky situation…obviously, my chances of making team ontario are very slim…but there are college scouts there (apparently one from cornell was there last year), so i’d miss out!

aghghg, i dont know what to do…i think there’s a 20$ fee to change a test date, so i might register and change dates if i need to
