I am a sophomore at the moment, and just wanted to see what CC people think about my junior year load. Please tell me if it'll be really difficult, amount of hw/day expected, etc...Thanks

AP Calc BC
AP Language (English)
AP Chem
AP Bio
AP US History
Intro to Art (or some other art credit)
Tech 20??? Something like that ( an easy course)

FYI: I am very familiar with Bio and Chem AP courses. But I don't know much about the three (although I probably will learn calc with mom over summer :p)

Depends on your school. If you learn a lot of it over summer (and that's not a bad idea), then it should be manageable, but those are some of the hardest APs you can take in a single year, so be aware of that. It'll keep you busy.

Chances are, though, if you're thinking about it this early on, then you'll be fine.

Im self studying world history and will start self studying human geography (if school doesn't allow; I'm a new student so all spots for soph AP courses r full). Also, if I have time I will self study macroeconomics too. Other than that, i'm taking 4 honor courses atm...

Hmm... AP is a lifestyle. AP is a uniform.

Sometimes its best to gradually start, i.e. I took 3 classes/ 3 tests soph year, then with the experience of the classes, I self studied 3 to add to the 4 classes I took Junior year.

dont take adamjaz to seriously...i went from no ap's too 4 of them and as long as u treat them as a regular class do the hw, pay attention etc u wont even kno they're ap till the test date comes aroound

thanx a lot! you guys rule! I'm just so eager to get national AP scholar. But i have a question, is it more recognized to have NAtional AP Scholar or MErit Scholarship Semi-Finalist/Finalist (on resume, so before junior year)

NMSF just means you got a good score on an easy test...National AP Scholar means you consistently got good scores on lots of tests in different subjects.

I'd go with National AP Scholar although both are not really stellar awards.

Yeah, it really does depend on your school. This year I'm taking

AP Bio
AP Chem
AP US
Honors French lit
Honors English
Honors math (Exeter program)

and I'll just flat out tell you that my life is pretty much nonexistent. Moreover, the stress factor has contributed to several health issues. So, basically, talk to current juniors from your school and your counselor, and get the heads up about the difficulty of your school before plunging into a schedule of that caliber. Good luck in making your decision :)

Dude, you'll do fine because you got classes. If anyone is like me(which i highly doubt) i am self-studying 5 APs- AP bio, chem, physics c-mech and electro/magnetics, and calculus b/c. We don't offer AP classes in canada, so i decided to self-study those 5. I like physics/chem/and teaching myself calc is going to be cool. Bio is gonna eat my head because of memorization. So, its a good courseload for junior year i'd say. Make sure to do clubs and stuff to relieve stress from studying, get your mind off of things so its easier to absorb trust me.

Also, if you are anything like me, i do amazing when i cram. I cram for all my exams last year in grade 10, scored almost perfect on almost all of them. It's intense but cramming is a way of life when it comes to memorization for 1 particular thing.

Thanx a lot! Just one last question...how long will it take to self study human geography? Like x number of hrs/day for y number of days. And is it relatively easy to learn pre calc and parts of calc bc in say... one month? With the aid of a professional calculus teacher

Can't say about calc, but precal is mostly just alg II except a little more in depth (depending on your alg II course). It would vary, but if you're exceptionally good at math, then it might be possible. There's just a lot to get through, but none of it is very hard.

Can't say anything about human geo or calc, but I get the impression here that human geo is really easy.
