Junior in hs, changes

Im a wondeing waht my chanes would be...im currently a jr
SAT-1200
GPA.freshmen-2.7--sophmore-2.9 --jr-3.4
I know gpa is 2/3, but improvement?
EC-Varsity tennis capt, (trying out for psu team)
Marching band(trying out for psu blue band)
chess club,
cross country 2 years,
Uncle, dad, and sister(current fresh) have gone here. I would submit application sept 1st.

I would apply for summer session

ok, 37 people have viewed this, can someone just be honest and respond?

I'd say you're not guaranteed a slot in the fall (unless tennis comes through), much more likely for summer. are you going to take the sats again? if you can raise your score that will greatly improve your odds. I'd also suggest completing the optional essay in your case. application takes like 10 min to fill out other than the essay.

yeah i would take the sats again and get a killer essay and recomendations. As of now, tennis is 50-50. it depends what their coach's recruiting standards are, i have the ability but i dont play enough high quality tournaments. But will my legacy help me that much?.. and i have no idea waht liberal arts is but would it help? i want to do pharmacy or dental. ANd how hard would it be to transfer from temple u after 1 year or 2 years?

thanks guys, i appreciate the help.im asain to btw if affirmiative action is still around

liberal arts=history, english, foreign languages, etc. asians don't get affirmative action, sorry... just underrepresented minorities. I'm guessing you'd want to do premedicine as a major then, which is in the college of science. jan borden [tennis coach] is a really nice guy (am assuming you're male for some reason, if not I hear buffy baker is really nice too). don't think legacy matters too much, but don't take my word on that.

yeah i talked to him....id jsut have to play some more USTA and maybe excel at the NYS championships, i dont care if im benchwarmer, being on a team at that level is exceptional to start out with.....can u find out about legacies? and how much diff does summer session mean?

oops, meant jan bortner... was definitely too late when I posted that, so ended up combining the names of 2 tennis coaches. anyway, I'd say you have a fairly good shot at summer session, but would be able to start in fall if you were on the tennis team.

hey, thanks for all the help. Are you on the admissions board or something? YEah, starting in summer doesnt REALLY effect me at all, sacrifice one usmmer for 4 good years, rather then 2 if i transfer from a satellite campus. I was just wondering how hard it would be to transfer from UCONN, Temple, Suny Stony Brook, or Boston U.

nope, I've just lived in State College all of my life. I know almost everything about PSU there is to know. my family is very athletic, so I know the coaches for volleyball, track/x-c, tennis, and field hockey. I practically live on campus (I've completed 3 classes, am in 2 now, and done research), and a majority of my friends have parents who are profs.

I don't think it's very hard at all to transfer; I know a number of people who have. I'd guess as long as you keep your gpa around a 3, you've got a shot, but I have no exact figures.

thats awsome man. I just need to see if Jan Bortner(really nice through emails with my dad) will take practice players
