My parents want me to apply to HYPS and MIT, but I don't know how much of a chance I have there. I'm pretty sure I like Brown and maybe Columbia, but again, I don't know of very many other schools. Mostly I think I just want to avoid University of Maryland.

Thanks to anyone who responds!

I don't know much about college admissions, but I see that you have a large laundry list of largely unrelated ECs. If you were able to somehow focus those a little more, i.e., only showcase the ones in which you have a true passion/awards/leadership, that would be beneficial to you. As it stands, it appears as though you just joined every club available to look attractive to colleges. You could also try grouping them together, like "Speech & Debate", "Math & Science", "Journalism", etc.

Other than that, your GPA looks good and you are definitely taking a rigorous course load. To me, your SAT scores look great, but I know that many fellow CCers would say that they are weak. shrug

Thanks. Where should I aim with what I have? I think I also like Carleton.

William and Mary
Cornell- Good Architecture program
Dartmouth- Ivy League, similar to Brown
Johns Hopkins
Boston College
NYU-Great for business/economics
Boston U
Northwestern-Great Journalism Schools
Rutgers- Decent Physics Program
Caltech- Good Physics Program

Haha, thanks for replying. As for Caltech though, my sister went to MIT, so I've been trained to despise it.

Williams, Cornell, HYPS, Columbia, Brown, MIT, UC Berkeley, UPenn, list goes on.

Just apply to your favorite schools.
