Hey guys,

Has anyone done this program? Did you like it? How selective is it? Is it viewed favorably by adcoms at top schools? I got a packet in the mail and it looks interesting.

Hey guys,

Has anyone done this program? Did you like it? How selective is it? Is it viewed favorably by adcoms at top schools? I got a packet in the mail and it looks interesting.

ive been to the one at princeton last summer.

It was very worthwhile, plus it's also very prestigious. Aren't you suppose to submit the entire application for it by mid april already?

yeah, I'm really interested in doing this next summer....is it prestigious and all that....or is it one of those scammy programs that just takes your money and that anyone can get admission into?

It will be a great experience, but doing it won't look much better than doing a related course at a pre-college program. It is not selective at all, but it's not a scam. You still learn a lot and all.

it's important to note that some people you will meat there will perhaps be you potential peers or rivals at elite colleges. I know for a fact that some of the senior friends when went to jsa princeton last year all got into ivies: one harvard ea, one princeton ed, one bernard, one upenn, etc.

well, that's a good thing, isn't it?

it is quite a challenging program, if you are looking for some serious summer homework. classes start at 8:30 and end around 4 in the afternoon, with a short lunch break in between. And you DO receive lots of homework everyday, and exams (us foreign policy, 2 in class essays every SATURDAY morning at 8 am) every week.

I really like its guest speaker programs held at the UN. We get to meet delegates from iraq, syria, s. korea, cuba, and russia. (the russian one didn't come since there was an emergency security counsel meeting that day: the london bombings!)

that sounds like something I'd want to do....intense though :/

hey how are the chicks. Also would anyone speak to the Stanford economics program?

Junior State of America is an amazing program - it was one of the biggest highlights of high school for me - definitely do it.

I did the Stanford econ program.

To be honest, I fell asleep a few times, but that's probably just because of intense procrastination late at night. Don't procrastinate as much as I do...read, do the review questions, and do some studying and discussion in class. You have to do a 10-12 page research paper too. Do NOT wait until the last day.

Yeah, basically a college class. Your teacher might be different, so the assignments may change a bit. Tell me if you get Fazeli. Speech class was fun too, as was the Congressional Workshop debates. Lots of preparation in advance, though. :)

It's like doing a pre-college thing! I totally know what to expect for college, at least to a certain extent.
