4.0's fresh &soph years... but 3.5 1st semester junior year:( very hard classes.... A LOTTTT of extra curricular stuff, volunteer work... about 2100 on sat. have i blown my chances? any suggestions for schools that aren't so cutthroat competitive? this semester has really brought my spirits downn:(

Hell im the same way right now, i took too many AP courses I got bogged down with so much work i went from 4.0 to 3.6 I was #21 in the class rank and im down to #49

I know it doesn't help you much now, but it's really just one year from hell. Senior year will make up for it, I guarantee it. All you can do is try your best to stay optimistic, and keep trying your best.

i did exactly wat my cousin, who this happened to also, said would happen i thought i could handle it and it flug out of control Also i have Block Schedualing so that might help me cause ive got better classes in my spring block

same here wwahhh..i wanna be sophomore again..:( grades plummeted..

um, SENIOR year is HELL. the first semester, at least.

Agreed with the above. Senior year killed my GPA...it's by far the most stressful year, because on top of your many AP classes, you'll be an officer/leader in a few EC's, juggle with college apps, and have pressure put on you from all sides about what you should do in your future.

yeah...glad my junior year is over. I got my first B's that year (both in AP Chem...and I had to wake up at 5:00 for that class too...).

Just get through it, one way or another. At some point you will probably laugh at the ludicrosity of the whole year (I know it's not a word, but it should be :D)

I thought sophmore year was hell.

Mostly because I had the 3 worst teachers you could get for 3 of my subjects.
I think junior year was pretty tough, and senior year is kinda tough.

im hatn jun year right now..... teachers are redic

umm.. am i the only one on CC who isnt upset that my average is a B+( or since my school gives numbers an 89).. i thnk its pretty good!!!!!!

plenty of ppl get into college without stragiht A's...

yeah, booklet i think that you are right. i juts need to relax and get over some b's, its not the end of the world

nope... a C tho.....

IM KIDDING>>>> just breathe

Wow, I must be an aberration, but my grades went UP from sophomore to junior years, and I am taking 5 APs this year. I had about a 3.9 freshman year, then I got a C and a bunch of Bs as a sophomore and for that year I had a 3.15. This year I have a 3.85 UW GPA. Cumulative, I have about a 3.75. I don't even work all that hard. I don't do about a fourth of my homework because high school teachers insist on giving us bull***** assignments and busy work. The work that is actually beneficial I put some serious effort into. And you know what? I don't care one way or the other what my class rank is so long as I stay in the top quarter, which isn't exactly hard to do. I think right now I am at about 65/350. Why would you guys obsess about something like that? If you want to go to college, believe me, high school grades are not going to be the limiting factor. I think the figure is that something like 90 or 95% of all colleges accept more than half of all their applicants. And if you are cool with the state that you live in, you pretty much just need to be breathing to get into a public school. If you have your heart set on a top 20 but you screwed up in high school, go in-state for a year and work hard. Apply as a transfer student and you can make it happen.

a 3.5 for a semester will not keep you out of any school.

I Had 3 AP's and Gym this semester< IT sucked wound up with B+ B C+ A

A is in Gym :), But my teachers sucked in soph year i Had A A+ A- B+ B- A A A+
so i have to get like straight As in Honors English, AP Physics, AP Comp Scinence, and Algebra 2 (damn guidance councilor Overbooked my A2 class last year and got pushed out and had o take it this year)

I used to never do HW but realized this year how Dang important is is in my Block scheduling, Seriously Block really sucks

Senior year is definitely worse than junior year. For all the reasons stated already.. plus the fact that your teachers KNOW you're stressed and think they're still the only one giving you tons of work so it's okay... but they aren't. Battling senioritis to keep you IN college once you're accepted is also a lot harder than it sounds.

Also.. can you say "senior thesis"? stab

heheh mystery, my school's got the JUNIOR thesis. so i'm loving that right now.
the first month of junior year felt like being thrown into water and someone telling you, "okay, swim!"...after the first 6 weeks or something it became manageable, but i'm afraid of 3rd quarter because it's always my weakest. here we go.

We had a junior one, also. :/ The standards are just so much higher this year, it feels like there's much more work involved.

Or maybe it's just because the senioritis and being-in-college-ness has ensnared me and I'm leaving myself with a week to write the entire thing. Oops.
