Junior Year Schedule -- What do you think?

My goal is Stanford. If I don’t cut it, probably Berkeley. Seeing heavy science classes (Physics C) on people’s schedules, I’m wondering how this schedule would fair in admissions. I have all A’s I think.

Precalculus

AP Psychology

AP Comparative Governments (Semester)

AP United States History

AP English Language

Chemistry Honors

Survey of Art History II

Anthropology 102

Model United Nations

Scientific Research (Quarter)

7 and 8 are done at a community college. My senior year schedule would be as follows:

AP Statistics

AP Environmental Science

AP Economics

AP American Government

AP English Literature

Is my senior year too weak? Should I change statistics to Calculus or take some community college courses? I’m not that great at math; though I’m guessing they’ll never get the grade for it so I might as well.

Dude, you're freaking out. Don't. Don't worry. It's not helping your nerves in anyway. Try something that you like, instead of "Should I change statistics to Calculus" stuff.

random, but...why aren't you taking a foreign language?

This is being really picky...but since you asked for it

Your science classes are really weak. Why is it honors chem instead of AP? And environmental science is not a lab science, therefore its inferior to chem, nio, physcs, etc. and colleges will realize it is one of the easier AP classes.

You dont seem to have a foreign language either junior or senior year so thats what two or less ppossible year of FL? Thats definitely not good

Also top colleges expect some sort of Calculus by the time you graduate, Either AB or BC.

P.S. All the info above is stuff I've read from "The truth about Getting In" There is a college planning table for what sort of classes college expect for each year.

umm....what are you planning on majoring in at college?.....cause i would personally consider switching out something for AP calc senior year...but that's just me (i would drop econ or gov unless you are going into something like that)

During Soph and Junior year i took a total of only 4 AP classes, and got into Cornell ED last week. to me your schedule looks fine

Chemistry was a district requirement that I fulfilled over the summer. It drops into my junior year area of the transcript. While science is far from my passion, I understand that I have to compete with other applicants. Though I'd just do horribly in an AP lab science.

I finished Spanish 3 last year and I hated it. I'm taking 12 units of intensive Russian language this summer @ UVa. 12 units, I think, is equivalent to 4 years of high school language. So I should have 7 years total..? Keep the advice coming -- my counselors are garbage.

You can take 12 units of a single foreign language in one single summer?
And you are implying that after two months of intensive study you are as fluent in the language as others are after four years of high school language classes??? I've often heard that language classes at US high schools suck, but that seems a little bit too extreme.

Let's do the math: Four years of high school language: 4*200=800 periods of instruction + 200 hours of studying and doing homework
Doing that in one summer means 800/40=20 periods of intruction per day from Monday to Friday for 2 months. Let's assume it's an accelerated program and cut the periods in half. That would leave you with 10 periods of classroom instruction per day plus study time outside class, and I highly doubt that you would be able to handle that workload.

So imo the summer program will count as one year of foreign language (two at most), but top schools recommend 4 years of a SINGLE foreign language.
You should rather think about why you hated Spanish so much. Did you dislike the instructor, his teaching methods or your classmates? Was the class too easy or too challenging, or did it involve too much or too little work? Then take Spanish instead of Russian at UVa over the summer.
Or do you dislike the language itself?

Kinly07: 1. Your science classes are really weak. Why is it honors chem instead of AP?

Before you can take AP chemistry, you have to take a pre-requisite, like honors chem. Just like you take precal (advanced or not) before calculus. So, it's not weak.
