So yeah...your input would be highly appreciated.

Also a general question for people who know about UF. Is it a diverse school? Is there a good mix of Hispanics, Asians, African Americans etc?

And...what's the campus like? Big, small...nice, average? What's the weather typically like? (Well warm, duh, but can you elaborate?) This is probably one of two far schools I'm applying to, the rest are all in the Midwest.

you stats are just a bit below average applicants, why didnt you apply for ED? It could've increased your chance, but I guess your minority status will compensate for it a little bit. The campus is nice, but dorms are mediocre. For diversity, I'd say it's probably 8 out 10.

^ I didn't apply ED because I'm out of state and have never even seen the school. It's not my top choice or anything, just a school I've heard great things about and thought I'd give it a shot even though it's a bit of a reach for me. If I don't get into my top choice (University of Illinois - Urbana Champaign) and DO get into UF, I will certainly visit and see what I think. :)

Thanks for the response! Do you think my minority status would really help considering I'm not a URM, rather an Asian with low stats for...well an ASIAN?

I honestly don't know too much about how you fare on the chances part, but I think I can tell you a good bit about the school, since I attend.

In terms of diversity, take it from me, you can't walk 10 feet without seeing at least 3 brown people (not being racist! for you touchie ppl! that's a term all my Indian friends use dearly :P) or black/oriental/whatever people. It's a very diverse campus from what I've seen, and there's a lot of established clubs and societies for most any nationality/race/religion you belong to.

The campus is huge - at least 2-3 miles wide, definitely scooter/shuttle bus material. I personally like this, because the school really feels like its own community, a mini city of sorts. The buildings are basically all brick, what you'd expect from college architecture, but I don't really like the way they look too much, a lot of the buildings look like they were build in the 50s (and probably were) to fit in with the older, and actually beautiful buildings that were there much earlier, but fell something short of that goal.

And yes, it's HOT and even moreso HUMID. In the beginning of the school year it feels like you're taking a shower just stepping outside and walking a few hundred feet. It quickly cools down though. The school is inland so it doesnt get that sea breeze that a lot of Florida does, making the summers hotter and the winters cooler.

Anyway, dorms are bleh, but they're what you might expect - cinder block walls, small, communal bathrooms, standard college fare.
