Just a Heads up for EA applicants

You may have applied before the November 1st deadline, however, if any of your supplemental materials (test scores, letters of rec, transcripts, etc.) came in after this deadline, you are no longer considered for EA or merit based scholarships. Also, this means that you may not hear back from OSU about your decision until Feb. 1st. For all of you that have friends that heard back, but you’re still waiting, this is probably the reason why.

This is what I’ve been told from an admissions counselor, btw.

From OSU Admissions web page:

Patience.

@WAPacker This has nothing to do with what I stated. What you posted is true, but my post states that if ANY supplemental material required with the application came in after the November 1st deadline, then the EA notification deadline and the consideration for Merit scholarships are no longer applicable.

Lies. I e-mailed an admissions counselor who I had met before this morning, my stuff was all in by November 5th on BuckeyeLink. He said;

"We received roughly 26,000 Early Action applications so…it is a slow process. You are in very good shape! You will receive early action priority and are eligible for merit awards.

We will be rolling out more decisions each day this week. Please keep an eye on your buckeyelink account. "

So your point is invalid.

I had a similar post too on my thread and someone said that they sent in ACT stuff and it arrived after the deadline, but they called and asked and said their son was still an EA applicant. Plus I called today and asked because my transcript and letter didn’t get processed until 11/5, but they still said I was an EA applicant.

@sinjbad This is the statement that is incorrect.

The rest of your statement is correct, I believe.

Lots of people that will get in early action have not yet heard.

I took the October 25th ACT, and they did not receive my score until November 13th. I called in to the admissions office and they told me that because my ACT did not come in until the 13th, 12 days after the deadline, I am no longer an EA applicant. I am stating what I was told by an admissions counselor.

@WAPacker You are right. Early action applicants find out by mid-January whereas RD applicants find out sometime in February. However, from what I’ve been told by an admissions counselor, if anything came in after November 1st, then you’re no longer considered an EA applicant, even though you may have selected it on Common App.

^all scores had to be received by November 1st. For people who took the October SAT, the scores got there on time. For the ACT takers, it’s different.

That information was posted out by OSU admissions, though…

@sinjibad Colleges aren’t that strict about supplemental materials. If people are concerned about their late materials, contact OSU directly. Don’t assume that you were moved to Regular decision pool. I honestly think OSU has received a ton of applications, and that’s why we aren’t hearing back.

@Sugoi15 I called in, and they confirmed that I’ve been moved to RD. OSU apparently is “that strict” about getting materials in by the deadline date.

Why would it come as a surprise that if you did not submit all of the pieces of a set of required materials by a stated deadline…that your set of required materials is considered incomplete or not meeting such deadline? Am I missing something?

Why would it come as a surprise that if you did not submit all of the pieces of a set of required materials by a stated deadline…that your set of required materials is considered incomplete or not meeting such deadline? Am I missing something?

@pennsydad because most other schools allowed students who took the October 25th ACT to still apply early action.

So I got in to OSU WHOOP WHOOP but how long until I find out if I get scholarships (probably will get National Buckeye Scholarship) but I am concerned with scholarships on top of that. Also when can I expect to see if I got admitted into the Honors College?

Ok so I sent in test scores on Oct. 20 but my application status says “status date: 11/03/2014”. Is this something to worry about? I also submitted the Commonapp with all necessary materials on Oct. 31 but my application status says Nov. 2 for the payment and Nov. 5 for everything else.

Mydeskisamess I would call & speak with an admissions counselor. They will tell you if you are still EA or not. My sons ACT score didn’t get there till 11/3 & they said we were still ok for EA. He was accepted this week.

I had the same thing. I called them 2 days ago and they said I was still EA, but i would still call them

I think it only affects those who took the October ACT
