This might be a dumb question but is it "okay" to not take the SAT at all? I have taken practice tests for both the ACT and SAT and I bomb the SAT verbal constantly. I even took a Kaplan course and it didn't help much. Do you think it will hurt me if I do not take the SAT at all and submit only ACT scores?

yeah thats what happened to me, i did a lot better on the ACT than the SAT so i thought i was just going to send in my ACT scores even though i took the SAT twice....however i took the SAT II's and apparently they send the regular SAT score with the SAT II's so my scores got sent which really sucked because they were horrible. i emailed my schools and they said they will look at the higher of the two. so even if you take the SAT and dont want to send it in, if you take SAT II's, the school will still end up getting your scores

Send the one from which you get the highest score.

thanks flash and amx
do you think schools will wonder why i am not submitting SAT scores? it seems like everyone who posts chances for competetive schools include both ACT and SAT scores. (even if both are not required)

no, colleges won't "wonder" budfox, they really only care about the higher score that reflects your "intellectual aptitude" better... also, if you plan to apply to a midwestern college, ACT's will be almost required so it really depends WHERE you are applying to.

You don't get score choice for the SAT, AMX. Only the ACT.

If you take SAT IIs but not the SAT, so what? It's fine. Any school that takes ACT won't require the SAT too.

By one I ment either SAT or ACT.

budfox i think i am going to do the same thing b/c my ACT scores are better

Dumb question .. sorry..What if you take both ACT/SAT and SAT II, buuuut you take the SAT II's first, then does the SAT still automatically get sent?

That's what my daughter did...sent SAT 2 scores before taking SAT 1, this way if ACT is better than SAT she doesn't have to send any more scores from College Board. Hope that helps!
