I bet there are zillions of discussion on this. Can any one ascertain whch is better to take? Is it a best idea to take both? I am scoring close to 2100 in SAT now.

I hate to prepare for ACT. Can any one explain what % of schools and which schools prefer ACT?

I am thinking of IVY schools, UC Berkley, Stanford, Duke and University of Florida.

Most schools weigh the ACT and the SAT equally. I favor the ACT over the SAT because it is so predictable and it's a whole heck of a lot easier. I think you should definitely take the ACT at least once just to see how you do.

Some people find the ACT easier than the SAT; others do not. (One of my daughters excelled on the ACT, while the other did significantly better on the SAT.) Definitely take them both and see which suits you best.

definitely take the ACT with Writing. Colleges (the vast majority of them anyway) should not have any preference. Be aware though which ones in your list require SAT 2's. good luck.

i assume that they will take your higher score, in the same way that they superscore your SATs if you submit multiple times. and hopefully, the ACT score and the SAT score are not too far apart that they don't appear contradictory.
