Hey guys. So I just applied EA and my friend actually found out recently that he got in. I was surprised because I thought only rolling admission schools did that.. but he said it's rolling but they don't tell people it is? I'm not really sure what that means, but will I find out before the usually month after the deadline (December 15th)?

Your friend is right, Tulane is not officially a rolling admissions school, but they choose to let many people know before the final notification date. Since you applied right before the deadline, it is hard to say when you will hear. If you are a very strong candidate so their decision is easy, then you might hear very quickly. At least that is what seems to be happening. For others it might take longer.

This doesn’t mean just strong in the sense that you would get in, but also that you qualify for the top merit award. Otherwise they may not be able to tell you quite so quickly because they also have to decide which merit award to give you, even if you are a sure candidate for admission.

That was a bit convoluted, hopefully it makes sense to all.

It’s definitley a reach school for me, but I’m hoping with the early action that it will increase my chances. I saw some stats it said tulane had an regular acceptance rate of 27 percent and EA increases it to more than 60 percent? Is this accurate?

I have never heard Tulane announce any stats along these lines, but EA usually is higher. Two reasons: 1) People applying EA have generally shown more interest besides just the act of applying EA; and 2) Traditionally people applying EA have higher stats than the general pool. I am not sure how large this second difference is, or if it even still exists with apps being so much easier now (for almost all schools, not just Tulane).

My gut tells me that the 60% number is probably wrong. It just sounds way too high.

Fall 2010 Selectivity- TU
Early action acceptance rate = 37%: from US news and report 2011-2012.

That sounds more like it. Thanks haha2k.

Hey, I have one more question. I sent my app the 14th, and then I received an email about my gibson account on the 16th. It said it received the first half of my application in that email with my gibson information. When I check my status, even from logging in the first time, it says that the application is complete. I’m not sure if it just means that essays part of the application but also my recs and SATs? It hasn’t changed since. If someone could tell me that would be great.

Complete means the total app is complete including SAT’s, recs. etc., they don’t need anything else in your file. They have what they need to make a decision regarding your attending Tulane.

Oh wow. They must’ve had everything even before I sent my application.

That’s great.
