Just Attending Spring Reception

Because this forum tends to be a little inactive (at least compared to other forums I used to post on), instead of writing about my entire experience, I'll leave this post open to questions; I'll be happy to try answer any questions you have about the Spring Reception.

(I also broke off into the Newhouse group, if you have any questions about that)

I will say that I had an amazing time, met amazing people, and that the Spring Reception really sealed the deal for me. I'm completely thankful for my acceptance, and I cannot wait to attend in the Fall.

Jouraynalism, did you happen to drop by the Newhouse table in the dome? If so, we probably met.

I'll probably be at the table for all the other receptions too. Come say hi, I get a kick out of seeing CC people in real life.

Ahhh. I didn't get a chance to stop by the table. I went straight to the dorm tours after eating. How disappointing! I'm leaving today, so I guess we'll just have to meet up sometime in August. Message me if you want to facebook.

What part of Newhouse did you go to... I was in the Broadcast Journalism group yesterday.

I was in Magazine.

I was in undecided. Woo.

im going on the 23rd..is it okai if i arrive on the campus at 11? im from nj and im taking the plane from philly to syrause ..soo the timing is reli uncontrollable...can you tell me more about the spring reception like what exactly u have to do and what are they going to show you??

um, you'll be missing a lot if you don't get there till 11. there's a general meeting that starts at 9, then at 10 you split up and visit the specific college you got into. lunch starts at 11:30, and from there on you can choose to tour dorms or campus.

i'm an international student so obviously i can't visit anytime soon and i'm trying to choose between syracuse and university of miami and to be honest i favour going to miami..
so since u've visited is the location too remote and is the weather that bad???

I was worried about the same exact things. I'm from California, where there's lots to do and the weather is warm. However, once visiting, I found Syracuse a nice place to be. It was cold, but that's something I won't mind getting used to. And the location isn't bad. Obviously it's not NYC or L.A. but there's enough to do near campus and downtown. Plus, you can always take the train down to the City.

It's not really as bad as you think it is. I was terrified that I wouldn't like it... but now I love it more than anything, and I can't wait to go.
