okay so im taking the SAT in may... I sort of know what i have to do on V+M. Now i just want to nail the writing section! i just cant seem to be able to do that!!!! im at 660 with an 8 on the essay. I need a 750+, but preferably an 800... I know mostly every thing about grammar. Its just that I tend to overlook some rules etc.(stupid mistakes). do you guys reccomend that I practice then just check my mistakes? or is there any other piece of advice a fellow CCer would like to contribute to my path to glory (lol)?

P.S hows the Princeton Review 2009 book for Writing?

stick with the BB for now. practice all of the writing sections in there and analyze your mistakes. i bet by the time you’re done with the whole book you’ll be at least 700+.

Kaplan SAT Writing Workbook
Princeton Review: 11 SAT practice tests
Princeton Review: Writing and reading workout
Kaplan 2400 version
Barron’s 2400 version

If you get a 660 and have an essay of 8, means you got 44 in rawscore out of 49 possible. I did exactly the same, I got 660 and 8 on the essay. In my case I got 45 correct and 4 wrong, which is about 92% correct. So these questions that I answered incorrectly were only once of hard difficulty, meaning that in the end it is worthwhile studying the 2400 versions of prep books because they prepare you for tougher questions.

I got a 660 and an 8 on the essay as well. But you know what I did wrong? I waited until my senior year to take the SAT, therefore only leaving me a small window of time to prepare!

Although I didn’t use it at much as I should have, I purchased Barron’s and it is the bomb
