Just Curious-- JHU vs. Which School? decisions

Hey guys,

Just curious which schools you are picking JHU over, instead of, or are still undecided about.-- and why. It might help answer some of our questions.

Thanks!

Columbia and Penn, due to Columbia's lack of a true campus and both's rather weak engineering programs (relatively). At first I was fixated on wharton and their good job prospects but realized im more of a researcher and less of an entrepreneur. Its a wonder how things changed as I was almost sure of going to Penn. As for Columbia, besides the lack of a campus, SEAS' facilities really turned me off. Their labs and equipment seemed outdated somewhat and their reputation for BME and other engineering majors are quite lacking. I suppose what swayed me was the intimate research opportunities provided on campus. During my visit I talked to some professors and have research positions lined up prior to even matriculating. Quite amazing.

Undecided with JHU v. Northwestern

JHU gave me a full ride, but NU's economics department is better.

im still waiting for stanford and princeton (both are prob rejects)

right now its a 4 way deal -- UCLA vs. USC vs. UCSD vs. JHU.

But I'm more towards JHU 99.9999% of the way cuz i want to experience freezing temperatures on the east coast.

mm freezing temperature.

On one hand, it's freezing and sucks...but on the other hand, it allows for variety...And the joy of playing in the snow...and it makes you really appreciate when the weather DOES get warm in the spring instead of just being same old same old..

yes... and i need some snowball (coughs) fights...

collegiate--

you'll be happy at JHU..congrats on your acceptances

I'm deciding between JHU, University of Maryland, UNC and NYU. Right now, I think I'll probably go to UNC. But I'm still deciding, although I highly doubt I'll pick JHU. I need to get out of Maryland, and I would love to be somewhere warmer!

I'm deciding between JHU, Penn, Brown, Stanford and Duke.

I'm almost totally in the Stanford camp.

I'm not going to JHU because they didn't contact me until they sent me my admissions packet about the fact that my non-custodial parent, who I am rarely in touch, had not sumbitted the noncustodial parent's statement for my finanial aid package. I think it's completly irresponsible of them, especially since the letter basically implied that I'm no longer elligible for fin. aid.

Luckily, I got in everywhere I applied but am debating between Washington U in St. Louis and Cornell U.

I like the writing seminars program, the fact that there's no core, the P/F first semester, the campus, the people there I've met...

Still undecided between JHU, Cornell, Northwestern, and CMU...
I just feel like I don't know enough about all those schools. I want to major in BME, but it is very likely that I'll change my major leter, so I'm still undecided. Plus, JHU's EFC for my family is 20K, and my parents will struggle to afford that.

BarryD.. heard great things about the Writing Sems program .. have any of you guys checked out the Public Health Major???-- IT's actually an excellent route to med and law school.

I definitely plan on taking a course in Public Health at Hopkins, but I don't think I want to major in it. I'm considering law school but I plan in majoring in something I really like (law schools mainly care about LSAT scores anyway). I know JHU is #1 in public health, #1 in BME, has one of the top 2 medical schools and has the #1 hospital- but don't let this overshadow all the great humanities programs at JHU! JHU is an Ivy-caliber college.

duke vs. JHU vs. UNC vs. UMichigan

undecided: JHU , Duke U (PRatt), Columbia (FU), Cornell (eng.) and MIT

JHU(BME+full ride) vs. Cornell(Eng.) Vs. PENN(Eng. possible dual with business)

I am not exactly a researcher type, but since JHU gives me a full ride, and america's top BME, but i wanna to do business or starting a business with Bioengineering background, so it really comes down with PENN vs. JHU.

JHU vs Stanford vs MIT vs Williams vs Columbia vs Berkeley (Regents & Chancellor Scholar)

they all offered a full ride

I want to do health policy/public health, and Stanford's Human Biology program is amazing.

you got full rides from all those schools????? HOLY CRAP.

Need based fin aid.
