Just got a weird letter from Dartmouth, what does it mean?

So in the mail today, I got a letter from Dartmouth that started out like any other college promotion thing, urging me to apply. Closer to the end, it said "With the January 1st admissions application deadline quickly approaching...we are extending our deadline, for you, until January 15, 2013."

Did everyone get this, or just some people? I don't really know why they would send one to me anyway if it is a special thing... My test scores are pretty average for them (2250 SAT), only a 191 PSAT.
Here are my other stats: <a href="http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1433472-chances-cornell-horrible-sat-ill-chance-back-immediately.html%5B/url%5D">http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1433472-chances-cornell-horrible-sat-ill-chance-back-immediately.html</a></p>

Maybe I'm being paranoid and reading into this way too much, but could it mean that they really want me to apply? I know any impact on my chances would probably be minimal; it is Dartmouth, after all. I was applying there anyway, and since Dartmouth doesn't have supplement essays the extension won't really matter. (if only it was UChicago lol). Did any of you guys get one of these or know the reason behind it?

Lol they send that out every year, their real deadline is always ‘extended’

That’s what I thought, but out of 4 of my friends that are also applying to Dartmouth, only one other got the letter?

(I also got the letter and did the exact same over-analyzation xDD) and I came to the conclusion: take it at face value. Good luck!
