Just Got my package...wow

I still haven't gotten mine..I live in Northern Virginia. The suspense is killing me...
What else is in it besides financial aid stuff?

Thomaschau, any property with a mortgage against it would be assessed at the market value minus the mortgage. So that could not be the reason why you did not get much financial aid. Also assets are only assessed at about 5% whereas income gets a 30-40% (depending on age of parents, # of dependents, income range) bite. You may want to go over your parents' financial docs with them to make sure there are no errors. Otherwise, them's the numbers, and most of the time we do tend to disagree with what colleges feel we can afford.

hmm ok thanks Jamimom 8)
I'll go take a look

Princeton and Harvard don't take into account the value of your house whether mortgaged or not. * That way you don't have to sell your house to go there. . . .

I got a finaid estimate from Princeton before I applied to Columbia, and it was really nice. So my counselor called Columbia and asked if the aid would be comparable. Of course, Princeton ONLY does grants, no loans, which is so great. But the Columbia guy still said the family contribution would be the same.

WELL, I was like okay I'm applying to Columbia now (because I want to be at Columbia). I applied ED, and my family contribution at Columbia is 18,000 dollars higher.

haah i love the folder. its really smooth. when my mom saw the top of the front cover of the magazine she thought that lady was einstein

Does the Kluge Scholars Program only apply to ED candidates? or to RD also?

Hey, my friend the Kluge Scholar applied RD, so yeah, chidimma, RD applicants can get it, too. :)

that's cool. thanks!
