Just Got my package...wow

I just got my admissions package...wow.

i was named a Kluge scholar....they didnt process my FinAid stuff yet, but I hope I get some $$$...i'm stunned...anyone else happy about their financial aid package?

o man I was blasting Nirvana and I didn't even hear the UPS guy, but I caught up with him and just got mine.

On "Page 2 of 2", When it says "Estimated Grants", the amount of money means I don't have to pay that back right?

Cause I think I just got the best f!@#ing fin-aid deal of my life.
Please tell me estimated grants is money you DONT have to pay back.

meh, i'll read the fin-aid brochure thing too...

Man, I haven't gotten mine yet. But it comes by UPS, correct?

Congrats, opalstar! Sounds awesome.

Delfire, I think financial aid grants is stuff you don't pay back, yes. GO YOU! =) You only have to worry about work and loans. But grants = awesome.

What else is in the packet?

I'm a 1st year at Columbia - have been thrilled with my FinAid pkg - Columbia tends to be very generous second only to Harvard in their awards. They say and mean - if they accept you they make it possible for you to attend. And yes, a Columbia grant does not have to be paid back! Congrats...

I was named a Kluge Scholar also. I got a Kluge Grant worth something like 41,000 and a work study work 2,000 and then the expected contribution worth 1600. Im so happy the cost went from 45,000 to 1600. That sounds pretty good to me. I wasnt expecting to get the package so soon, but when I did...oh man! I can't wait to learn more about Columbia student life.

What is a Kluge Scholar exactly?

Congrats!

Sponsored through the generosity of a gift by John Kluge (CC '37), the Kluge Scholars Program is designed to benefit outstanding young adults from under-represented communities at Columbia College, in particular African-American, Latino/a, and Native American students. Its goal is to enhance the students' academic experience and provide exposure to a vast and diverse array of future options in their areas of interest.

A series of carefully developed events brings Kluge scholars together with special guests – men and women of distinction whose achievements have helped shape contemporary political, literary and intellectual life. Networking dinners, lectures, panels, movie screenings, guidance in exploring and applying to research and internship opportunities offer Kluge Scholars the chance to share ideas in a challenging environment with leaders in different fields.

wow that's a nice package. I offer my congrats to you, both on acceptance and the scholar award

Thank you, much hard work, and prayers were put into effect to make this work!

are you a minority? I assume you are from thee wording, but I could be wrong.

LOL...wow, that's some good minority radar you got...i dont know whether to be offended or offer you a drink...lol

thank you guys for clearing things up...

In that case, let me just say I'm VERY happy with my package and congrats to everyone else. And hope the same goes for those who didn't get the package yet.

and i thought i was going to get it on monday. UPS w00t w00t.

Yeah, I know I'm one smart cookie. As a fellow minority, congrats. How many people get this scholar award a year, if you know?

I am looking forward to getting it. Wow, it's nice to hear the good news on finaid. I hope my parents will be pleased when they get the offer. Maybe tomorrow. . . .

actually i have no idea, but when i read this magazine that they sent in the package there was a quick reference to there being 50 people per class who recieved the kluge grant...so that actually might be the answer, im not really sure though.

Ahh! I want my package! None of this seems real until I get it in my hands. It makes me doubt everything, almost.

Haha, I'm so weird on a Friday night.

Congrats guys!

I am still i denial though, especially because of the reason they rejected me :(

wow sadia i was the same way till i got my package about 30 minutes ago!! before that i was reading the viewbook we got way back when. i didn't get any finaid info though because they said they still needed something. i have to call them to see what it is. but hearing about you guys makes me really optimistic! congrats to you all!

Nice job guys. So the package comes by UPS? I live in Oregon. Maybe it will come tommorow.
