I've already submitted my app .. but am just wondering:

with the limited one page "additional information' space available on the online common app, how would the many lloooonnnggg resumes ive seen posted on CC be able to fit?

and also.. do colleges see our app (if submitted online) as pdf files and in the way they look in 'print preview'

I also submitted my app online. I took the advice of a few Yale students on CC regarding a resume. They suggested that the only info which properly goes on a resume should be that which adds something to your application. If it just regurgitates a lot of awards and EC's already listed, that essentially you take the risk of aggravating the ADCOM with excessive reading. Therefore, when I took a long hard look at my resume, I realized that much of it was indeed redundant. Although my GC thought it was the only document that captured everything about me all in one place, I had to agree with the Yale students that it was overkill. So, I included only additional information about my 7 EC's from my application in the Additional Information section as well a short list of some other activities. I was also concerned about a resume getting lost since I would have to mail it separately, and our school has a policy not to mail resumes on our behalf.
To answer your second question, I think that it is a PDF file and that what you see in the Print Preview window is exactly what they will see. Hopefully, they will be grateful that we chose to file online!!!
