Just took the SAT Biology...come hither!

The concentration of the starch stayed the same. The PERCENTAGE of starch in the bag would decrease, but the concentration couldn't change because starch wasn't able to diffuse out.---is what long island girl said before

If it was starch like I thought too, how could it?

Concentration is how much of something is in something else. If starch couldn't leave the bag, how could the concentration change?

I understand that the water comes in. But what I'm arguing is that it's not the concentration that would change, it's the percent of starch that would.

I don't know. Until someone can give me an explination then I won't understand or be able to see how it could change.

Right! So what was the answer! The one that swooped down!

Well, if water is being diffused into the bag, there will be more water in the bag, and possibly eventually even more than the starch. That's why in proportion to water, it goes down. I think atleast.

yea i agree

Well I understand that in proportion... But I don't think that's what the question was asking.

Someone define "concentration" for me.

The concentration does go down. Concentration is the amount of something in something else.

x/y=concentration x = starch y=water

If y gets bigger, and x stays the same, concentration will be less.

Alright, that's three against one; it's safe to say it went down.

Someone just asked me about a "volcano" question. Refresh my memory.

what's the answer to the one about volcanic islands?

what was the answer to the volcanic island/animals question?

STOP POSTING CRAP>>DO U UNDERSTAND THE CONCEPT OF A CURVE

wow cruise4, we posted the same question at the same time

who is jericho88

haha i think its because i saw your question in the other thread lol

What was the question to it; I don't remember?

it was like one species of animals goes to volcanic islands and that becomes a new species

It was somewhere along the lines of "There is a country and 400 miles to the sea, there is a volcanic island. The animals that live on the island and the country differ a lot."

i dont remember what the graphs looked like and i think i choose the one that leveled off, but it couldn't be the one going down like that, since the concentration reaches equilibrium after a while...not plummeting downward

and what does this show---i remember one of the answers is like, the effect of volcanic soil on animals

It was like evolution in isolated envirnments or something along those lines, for the volcano one that is.
