hey guys,
Heres a few answers to a few questions:

There are a few korean international students there. Most of the Koreans there however are SoCal kids. Now compared to the international population at irvine, korean people make up a big part of it. Now to be as lucky as to meet them, is up in the air. I got to meet 4 of them in the co-ed fraternity i joined, Alpha Phi Omega. That is a service frat and based on community, and it is a real good way to meet people, be social, and make classes more interesting and enjoyable since you always have the chance to have a brother in there with you.

Regarding the academics between uci and ucsd, it completely depends on what field you are going into, because the academics between uci and ucsd are as close as can be. Some majors may be slightly better than others between schools, but it is the same education that you get between the two. Between the 2 schools, there is very little academic difference.

Now to the last topic, to which all you guys are interested in.The girls.
The girls at uci, or any other campus for that matter are smokin. dont choose your campus based on the people there or what they look like. You will find someone there who is hot and who is not. Now at uci, it is primarily asian, but that doesn't mean that there are not other ethnicities there, it is just that asians make up a large part of the student population.

And i have no idea what you mean by "Irvine Cute" or "Triton eye", and have never heard either term on campus or in student life yet, but i will look into it for all of you :)

Merry Xmas and Happy New Year to Al!
~Kadya

p.s. ill try and be more active with answering your questions this time around.

hahaha, i agree that every factor should be taken into consideration, just make sure that the factors you use to decide on a college are rational.

and as jas0n said, the people population just did a 10-20x than high school. as a simple numbers game, your chances just went up for seeing a hot girl, period. and this applies to every campus.

Ouch...
I hope that stereotype isn't true...

"Irvine cute" is a less extreme term referring to how the males are just "ok" looking at UCI. Triton eye seems very blatant.

I'm going to ask the UCSD forum...

But yeah, I agree that girls or guys aren't a good factor for determining a college choice. XD
It's just funny to talk about stereotypes and find out how true they are. I always get a good laugh out of it.

HI! I've come across your posts and found them very helpful. May I please ask some questions about Davis or Irvine? I am a Senior in high school and am very nervous about my admissions to Davis.

Profile:
3.59 (UC GPA)
SAT: 1500
SAT II's: 520 on Math Lvl 2 and 740 on Korean

Aside from my numbers, I am very active in my school. Student Government for 3 years, I have held positions all 3 years. My school has 4,000+ students, making it the biggest in Northern California I believe. I took 5 Honors/AP classes. The only reason why my UC GPA is so low is because I failed my AP Physics class with an "F". Some people are even telling me they will disregard my app because I have an "F". I am very worried.

I applied undeclared to the Life Sciences and my alternate major was to Mathematical and Scientific COmputation(not sure if it's too impacted)- College of Letters and Science.

PLEASE IF YOU COULD TELL ME IF I STAND A CHANCE, IT WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED!!! THANK YOU SO MUCH

The Triton Eye is a disease caused by being around ugly girls at UCSD too long and your standards for what is attractive is lowered extremely.
9 out of 10 girls in San Diego are hot. But that 10th girl. . .goes to UCSD.
THAT MADE ME LOL. seriously. hahaha

UCI have never posted their rating or point system. however we know that it is quite similiar/close to that of UC Davis and UCSD.

Davis has posted their point system and such, which is what we mostly use to help us figure out if you have a chance to get in and what not. UC Berkley and UCLA are random and have different point systems with different factors adding more points than others.

and ouch on the Triton Eye, but it was quite funny :D

thx for the info GlueEater.

ask away on any other concerns or questions about uci or anything else on your minds

I remember seeing an Asian fraternity and sorority at UCI on wikipedia.
Here's the fraternity: Lambda Theta Delta
I think my uncle was a member....

oh about the spanish/chem placement tests (idk if writing fits in), are we required to take the class that we place into? like could we go to a lower one if we think we lucked out or something?

I asked this question posts before, but didn't get an answer. It's alright though. :)

To Kadya:

1) How is the accounting minor and the business/internship opportunities in the Irvine area?
2) Are there lots o' opportunities for chem research too? Are there as many pre-meds in chem as in bio?
