Can anyone tell me more about this program in terms of rigor and reputation? Also, can you pursue another program, let's say a certificate, while admitted into kaplan?

I know this post is almost 2 months old, but since I’m procrastinating for a midterm, I might as well answer it … (forgive me if I start rambling…or if my grammar falls apart)

The Kaplan Humanities Scholar Program is really just a fancy substitute for your Weinberg freshmen seminar requirements. It is only a two-quarter program for freshmen and it does not at all affect your pursuit of other certificates/honor programs.

Personally, I highly recommend the experience. If you are at all interested in the humanities, chances are you will enjoy the classes. The professors are all wonderful. It provides a great sense of community. Plus, it gives you double credits for what really just feels like 1 course-credit worth of work.

I recently finished Kaplan and I have yet to hear people around me say bad things about the program.

I was in the first class of Kaplan scholars and I’d echo what Chrezie said, though I will say that our classes were more work than a seminar and a typical class (though perhaps less work than real classes).
