When do direct admits find out if they have received a Kelley Scholarship (NOT the Kelley Scholars Program)? Does anyone know what percentage of directly admitted students receive them? On the website it states the range is from $1,000-$11,000 (I think). Does anyone know the average award? Thanks for any replies!

I am a freshman at IU and every direct admit (that I have talked to about it, like 20) who applied by the priority scholarship deadline got the 8k/year scholarship, but I believe they bumped that scholarship up to 9k/year for this year's incoming class. Also, the scholarship info came with the direct admit notification.

maxellis, those scholarships are IU scholarships, not specific to business students, directly admitted or otherwise, and are attained automatically by November 1st priority applicants who fulfill certain eligibility requirements. The scholarship you are referring to is the Automatic Academic IU Distinction Scholarship, worth a total of $36,000 spread out to $9,000 per year, and is awarded for applicants who boast at a minimum 1310 SAT and 3.8 GPA.

My question has to do specifically with Kelley Scholarships. Does anyone have any insight?

no incoming freshman get kelley scholarships, you need to be a current student to apply.

Actually, incoming freshmen can receive Kelley scholarships. My son received one worth about $3K as a freshman. He was notified of it in late July, about a month before class started.

ok then... just curious illinoismom: when did he apply?, GPA, SATs, special hook?

Jarad,

Son applied to IU in late Sept./early Oct. As a direct admit, he applied for the Kelley Scholars program by whatever that deadline was (I think early November?).

He had no special hook, ACT in the low 30's, and 3.9ish unweighted gpa.

Again, he didn't find out about the award until late summer, so he had already accepted admission. If receiving money from Kelley is a determining factor in whether or not you can attend IU, I'm afraid there is no way of knowing for sure before May 1st.

Good luck!

thanks for the info illinois mom, it really helps!!
