Kelley raised minimum req. for direct admission

To me, this is a good thing. The administration at Kelley is limiting the DA spots to about 1/2 to 2/3rds of the class–and thus still keeping the option open for others (including those who are not initially admitted to IU-B as business majors, to “qualify” their way into Kelley once they have gotten to IU-B. Also, note that they are very clear about what it takes to qualify–both for the DA and for the regular spots. They continue to attract better and better students, both from in-state and out-of-state–and a policy like this will help them continue in this pursuit.

It also allows them to keep up the new scholarship programs at the school–and make sure they go to the most deserving students.

This is almost exactly the opposite of what the Hutton Honors program does. (See my note on this in another thread.) Based upon the actions of both programs, it is not at all surprising to see that the Kelley program continues to thrive and attract more and more students and applicants, while the number of students in the Hutton Honors College is actually decreasing (it was about 600 and is actually less now) as students see it as less and less important in their IU-B education.

hopefully kelley makes it in the top 10 undergraduate business list this yr being number 11 right now
