I should have admitted in Kelley last semester since I have completed all required courses for the application and I got straight As for three semesters already. But I missed the deadline and I have to apply to it this semester. I sent my application recently. My current GPA is 3.9. But now I have a really big problem. Kelley will evaluate me based on my current semester's grades. I failed one big assignment in my BUS-C204 class and I will get a C at the end of semester. I'm really worried that it might prevent me from getting into Kelley. I just want to ask will Kelley reject me because of this one single C although I got As for all other courses? For the current semester, I will get one C and other courses will get As. How will this C impact my GPA. It is 3.9 right now.

I suggest you contact the Kelley School to get the definitive answer. I attended an admitted student presentation recently and I there they said a B- would be a problem. But I don’t know if they meant in every class you took before you applied or just some number of prerequisites.

Are you sure you will get a C in C204? Those are almost never given out in that course. C204 is one of those classes where the professors sort of just “give out” grades at the end of the semester. You can’t just add up all your assignments and project your grade?

I’m pretty sure because my professor told me so. She is very strict.

I’m just saying that of the 975 students who took C204/5 last fall, only 15 got a C or below.

Does your professor know that you are trying to get into Kelley? She may be assuming that you are already a Kelly student (as the huge majority of students who take C204 already are, unless they are taking C204 for SPEA’s or some other school’s requirements), and that your getting a C as a Kelley student is not a big deal, since a solid C is acceptable for counting C204 as meeting an I core prerequisite.

You might tell her your situation and maybe ask to submit a make-up assignment or something. She might view your situation differently if she knew how hard you worked and how much you have achieved and might be kept out of Kelley because of the C.
