is kelley school of business at indiana u any good? its ranked very high but the admission statistics seems to tell a different story?

i am considering it as a safety school.

can someone give me their opinion of the school and also give me some good safety schools with a decent business program.

i live in nj

Kelley is an awesome b-school. Yes, it's not the competitive school to get into, but that doesnt mean less of its quality.

The fact that its admission standards aren't high shows that its student body isn't as smart compared to other top 10 business schools.

I wouldnt go that far. They still have business honors too.

Their business honors kid is as smart as the average stern, ross, mcintire kid. And maybe a below average wharton kid.

I'm not saying Kelley is bad. I think its quite overrated based on the quality of the student body.

Alright well they arent exactly retards. I know you feel good you got into AA, but as someone who didnt get into Kelley, you dont have to put down the school so much and seemingly name call the student body...

on their web site it says tat u r ganranteed acceptance if u just have like 1250 SAT and 3.5 gpa.

does it matter if u are like asian or from northeast?

what stats do u need for a scholarship?

does indiana u have a direct medicine program?

Well, I did have to go to PSU-Smeal freshman year. Smeal isn't that bad compared to Kelley, and I was in their accelerated business program too (sapphire: http://www.smeal.psu.edu/uprog/sapphire). The student body was average to say the least. I studied less in college than I did in high school and yet I was at the top of my class. That's only one of the many reasons I decided to transfer out.

hey mightynick

no offense but you don't sound like you'd be a fun guy to hang out with

Haha! I know I sound snobbish but hey, that's how I felt at Penn State. My female friends like hanging out with me.

I only have a few though.

Benny is my boy. :P

I'm a totally different person outside of CC though. If I partied a bit more I'd be more social.

how about u guys answer my questions instead of arguing

I thought I did?

For more safties, you should try PSU Smeal, Rutgers B school (don't go there), UMD College Park, Temple, and maybe Illinois.

Try Wisconsin and Texas too. Texas is hard to get into for business but it has a top notch b school with better quality.

thanks for your input

do you think i can get into a better school like gtown or cornell if i have very good ap, sat 2s, sats and ecs, good grades, but a bad rank(not top 10%)

Quite unlikely.

But what do you mean by very good "SAT's"? 2250 and over? I think if you have a 2200 but you're not in the top 10% of your class (but still have a 3.6 or 3.7+) then you have a shot.

Kelley weeds out the idiots. Only the smart ones actually get into Kelley and survive I-Core. Employers know what the top schools are, and recruit there. You will get the same recruiters at Kelley that you will at any other top B-School, outside of a few top schools. The job offers on the ucso website show this.

Indiana's philosophy is not to deny the right to an education to anyone who is fit for the challenge - hence the low admission rates. What isn't shown is the incredibly low average GPAs of the prerequisite classes - required for admission to the Kelley School. Either you work hard and get into the school at IU, or you are already a top student and are directly admitted. I'm talking around a 2.3 average. I've myself had many classes where the course was weighed up to a C on exams, and you only got credit for the class if you got a C. The education is difficult, employers realize this. Kelley has a great reputation and lots of employers who come onto campus and recruit.

I'd give you data, but i'm really not the best to ask, as i'm not really a Kelley major at Indiana, and i'm not focused on going into the world of Business. Check out the ucso.indiana.edu website for information on job offers, salary statistics, etc.

I would completely disagree with IU's academics being 'garbage'

^^ IU's academics are certainly not "garbage."

The very top students in Kelley (including those in the banking workshop) are generally extremely smart, and could have gone to signifigantly more selective schools. The school is a "semi-target" on Wall Street because of these students.

However, those students are the minority - and IU as a whole is a pretty typical state school, where the academics are fairly mediocre and most students stay in-state after graduation.

Fairly mediocre? Most students stay in state? No. Not at all.
