My D is a direct admit to Kelley and the Hutton Honors Program. We are waiting to hear if she made the ACE program. She is a direct admit to Ohio State Fisher and also in the Honors program. She is a direct admit to University of Maryland Smith business school. At Smith she was not offered honors but rather Global Communities. She is a direct admit to McCombs but she is not honors. We live in New Jersey and are OOS for all four. Right now Fisher is offering the most amount of merit money followed closely by Kelley. Smith and McCombs are offering no $. She would like to go to the best B school she can. We would also like to see her get a job in the NY-NJ area after college.
Thanks for any insight you can shed.
Her intended major is Finance
I know the other three are very good schools, but Kelley was recently ranked the #4 undergraduate business school. I know rankings are subjective and should be taken with caution, but that is still very impressive. Additionally, I believe the top three cities that Kelley employs to are Indianapolis, Chicago, and New York. From a monetary standpoint, it sounds like Kelley could give you the best bang for your buck. I’m not sure if you attended DA Day or not, but it assured me that the entire Kelley staff and students are truly compassionate, helpful, and top-notch.
DS is current freshman at Kelley, in Hutton and ACE program. His experience has been great. (He was also admitted to Smith with honors). Feels he has been given many opportunities and experiences at Kelley that have already given him a head start to his business career. He is an economic consulting major. We are from PA and would love for him to return to this area after college. Really likes his classes and professors, and feels he is being well prepared for his career. As a parent I have been impressed with many of the things he has been exposed to and the level of professionalism with which the students are treated.
Since you asked, In my humble opinion, i would narrow it down to Kelley or Texas. Both are great programs. I understand the lack of honors at Texas, but here is one thing to think about. It is fairly common for OOS texas students to get in state tuition after one year. There are three paths to establish residency. They have an office in the registrars office that dispenses advice. Can also read about it online. It does take some work, but tuition becomes only 10k a year. Can’t beat that deal after one year. Austin is an amazing city to attend college. Sophisticated, cool, and fun. Tons of companies are pouring into the area. Many more intern and job opportunities than a great college town like bloomington. These schools all offer great educations. Consider fit, and it will be about what you make of the school.
