Kelley vs. Ross

I am not worried about connections seeing as I’m on track to do an internship at Morgan Stanley this summer.

That’s so untrue it’s ridiculous.

Your PWM internship with your dad’s friend is fine for the resume but that “connection” won’t help you one iota getting a banking job there or anywhere. You’re gonna want the best on campus recruiting department you can get, and Ross’ is very good.

soccergirl, are you saying that only 4 Ross students land IBanking analyst jobs each year? Out of 60 or so who take jobs at BB IBanks, you honestly believe that 56 are cleaning toilet bowls? LOL!

Well.

That’s some fun trolling.

Cleaning toilets. Okay. Uh huh.

I am unaware of a lot of BBA types who follow with MBA. A lot of the classes are repeats, and it’s a waste of time and money. My spouse ( an unfortunate lowly Ross grad  ) investigated MBA programs and was told there was no point because his BBA was so good. I cannot even think of anyone he went to class with that followed- unless they went into business academia.

But hey , what do we know?

“ross is more of a marketing and sales school than a banker school.”

soccergirl, you have no clue. Stop posting in my forum if you are going to make such ignorant statements.

I believe that sg is a ■■■■■ and I’ve called her out and have her on ignore.

However, with that said, how is this your forum? Are you more then just a mod?

If this is your forum, take us back to the CC we all liked before the downgrade.

romanigypseyes, you may not know this, but the Michigan forum is assigned to me. I am the moderator responsible for this forum. That is what I meant when I said it is my forum. I never claimed that CC belonged to me, but I am, for better or for worse, charged with keeping order on the Michigan forum and from letting it spiral out of control.

I just looked up details on Kelley’s IBD Workshop and it looks like 37 students have succesfully landed jobs in Investment Banking in the Class of 2014. This doesn’t include the other Kelley students or Econ/Math majors at Indiana who may have secured i-banking gigs as well.

<a href=“The Investment Banking Network at Indiana University: Error On Page”>The Investment Banking Network at Indiana University: Error On Page;

If the difference between Michigan and Indiana is $80K, I would recommend that you take the sure thing in Kelley and just plan to be proactive and gain admission to the Workshop. The worst case scenario is that you would have to accept a Fortune 500 business gig if you don’t get a i-banking job out of Kelley. If you were to miss out on Ross, LSA at Michigan won’t match the opportunities you would get from a dedicated undergraduate business program like Kelley.

However if money is absolutely not a concern and you are confident that the transition to college won’t be a difficult one for you, then Ross might be the credited response. It is a “target” for banking/consulting while Kelley is more of a “semi-target”.

Good luck!

Uh what? There’s no difference in working in IBD in NYC or Chicago or San Francisco in terms of pay or career mobility; these offices just focus on different industries (San Fran more for tech for instance) and recruit from a different set of schools. There are fewer IBD spots in LA, San Fran, Houston, Chicago, etc. compared to New York but there’s also less competition so it evens out.

Most of the resumes on the Kelly Workshop website clearly highlight “Investment Banking Summer Analyst” or “Investment Banking Analyst” positions; there is no room for misinterpretation there.

It looks like Ross sends ~60 to IBD every year while Kelly sends ~40.

Ross has around 430 per class compared to Kelly at around 1,200.

The way I thought about it and how I am making my desicion is IBW is the only great thing about Kelley for IB and it’s harder to get into than getting into Ross by comparison of acceptance rate. Since money is no issue for me Michigan would be a safer bet. Plus the atmosphere is a better fit for me.

Good, sound thinking ajrgcpro. Thanks to the numbers provided by ennisthemenace, you now can see that Michigan is the better program for IB. :-)

“If this is your forum, take us back to the CC we all liked before the downgrade.”

While Alex and I have our differences, I commend his continuous effort in moderating the forum and keeping it clean of trolls like @romanigypsyeyes. Anyone with some reading comprehension and logic skills would understand that he didn’t mean it in an possession/ownership sort of way, but I guess basic reading comprehension and logic is not a fair assumption to make for ignorant trolls.

romanigypsteyes is not a ■■■■■ bearcats. He asked a fair question that Alexandre answered honestly. ennisthemenace, on the other hand, is a ■■■■■.

Yeah I really appreciate all the help y’all have been with this college selection process.
GO BLUE!!!

Good luck and enjoy your time at Michigan ajrgcpro! Ann Arbor is truly an awesome town.

Thank you!
