Hi, DS has a 92.24 weighted GPA (our school calculates GPA on a % scale) and a 33 ACT. (8 APs/dual enrollment classes). Because of the wide variations in GPA calculators I can’t figure out if he will qualify as a direct admit or if we should petition. Guidance says not to worry, but… I worry!!
Any advice?
He’s 33 ACT fine, but what’s his unweighted GPA %.? According to website you need a 3.8 out of 4.0 unweighted. If that is the case, you might have to petition as your son likely has several B’s (maybe C) in his AP classes?
Btw- it’s Kelley School of Business
Thanks @socaldad2002 . Didn’t realize I had Misspelled Kelley! The GPA is the part that is nebulous to me… According to the site its a 3.8 weighted: “Earned a cumulative GPA of 3.8 on a 4.0 scale in high school. We will use the highest GPA that is sent to IU Admissions from your official high school transcript. In most cases this is the weighted GPA.” Not sure how Kelley will calculate that 92.24 into a 4.0 scale.
I think you’ll be ok, given that you’re between an “A- to A” average at 92, which is basically where a 3.8 is (between 3.67 and 4). Be ready to petition if they don’t direct admit you. But if you have to petition, you should be successful. Worth a shot! Good luck.
My daughter has a 4.0 GPA but only a 1320 SAT. Will her petition be successful?
A 92 is like 3.3-3.4?
