Does anyone know the exact acceptance rate at Kent or an estimate? I've heard anything from 44% to 34% (a pretty large difference).

Thanks!

ive never seen it published anywhere. they tell us that every year is a record breaking year with the number of applicants (as is happening everywhere) so the acceptance rate is slowly going down.

We are Kent parents and the applications went up 40% last year vs. the prior year so about 1,400+ applicants (my estimate) for the spots – so acceptance rates do keep dropping…plus the quality of applicants keeps going up…plus the yield (%age of students who are accepted who chose Kent) has also gone up…in general, it does seem a flight to quality in terms of applications to New England boarding schools tending to focus more and more on a certain group of say 15 - 20 boarding schools.

I believe they enrolled about 230 students with 1400+ applications. The acceptance rate might be around 16% now. They don’t publish the rate.

You arrived at your “16%” acceptance rate based on a yield of 100%… The school may have enrolled 230 new students and had 1400 applicants, but I guarantee you they had to accept more than 230 out of their applicant pool.

What makes Kent a great school and a potential great fit for an applicant has very little to do with this one statistic. Somewhere between 34-44% is probably correct. Don’t get sucked into the ridiculousness of this board where people act as if any school with an acceptance rate over 30% is a weak school.
