I just found this website and thought I would say hello and good luck to you and your kids who are starting their first year at Kenyon or looking to get in to Kenyon next year. Let me just say that my own child has been very happy at Kenyon. We have been very happy with the school, as well. If you have any questions from the parent perspective, I would be glad to help.

Glad you and your child have been happy.

It seems like a high achieving group of kids with high expectations for themselves. Does stress play a major role in their lives there?

I am of the belief that most stress is self-imposed. Everyone needs to learn how to pace themself and balance activities when they go to college. My daughter's first year roommate enrolled in too many activities and she was pretty stressed out the whole year bc of it. Even though most students take only 4 classes. These classes have a lot of depth. They often require large amounts of reading and writing and or research. My daughter even had an oral exam in one of her classes and had to support her answers. You really need to be prepared for that!

Anyone will get stressed at the last minute if they fail to pace themselves. This can happen in any school. There is pleny of help for students if they fail to understand the concepts taught, though. My D is a tutor for two subjects. Mostly these are for entry level classes. In addition, all professors have office hours and they are usually available for anyone who seeks their help.

Knowing when to have some fun can help break up some of the stress, too. In general, I think the Kenyon campus kids seem to know how to do that. Unfortunately, as on any campus, there may be too much driinking to alleviate the stress. There are other activites available if a student seeks that route, though.
