I'm a junior and I got transferred to a new high school. I didn't have Key Club in my old HS. How is this service club like? Is it similar to Beta or HOSA? Coz, I heard so far that it's one of the biggest clubs in my new HS (it's one of the best schools in the country by the way).
Any info regarding this club would be much appreciated.
Thanks.

It's just another community service club. Nothing more, nothing less.

its a international organization with various branches. Our local key clubs participates in state and regional conventions as well. Besides that, its just another venue to find volunteer work.

Its a random organization that looks great for college admissions (as quoted by our local key club president), join it = good ec for college, and u get enough hours for National Honor Society, and after u get that amount, then u dont have to do anymore and can just say ur a member!

In other words: its a laundry list EC that lots of ppl have, every at my school, including all the officers, stated clearly "we're only doing this stupid club to look good for college admission officers"

^ I beg to differ.

As a Key Club officer, I'm obviously biased, but I feel that this is much more than your typical service organization. Sure, everything is service based utlimately, but the fact that the club is built upon divisional and district levels makes it a very memorable experience. I've made many new friends from schools around my county because of the county-wide service projects that we hold. Key Club and other organizations like that have a real community-feel to it, as all members can learn and develop from one another. In my Key Club district (California-Nevada-Hawaii), we have some really fun spirit cheers and songs that unite as a team.

The way I view service clubs - they may all seem the same, but please remember that the opportunity to serve and make a difference is always there - it's what YOU make of it through personal initiative. Key Club has helped me to make a difference through service, and it may do the same for you.

--hopefully that wasn't too cheesy =)

^ well I do agree, Key Club is special in that it's more international. But the fact that the goals of serving God and serving for the greater good of the United States have become lost in the 80 years since its conception. Most people think its just a club about keys and community service, and at my school most people just talk during the pledge and stuff and make fun of the president while she's blathering.

Mabye it's just that my school has a terrible officer group. I respect key club (i actually joined just a week ago!). I'm a national level officer for another group so my school's key club officers make me dissappointed in their level of preformance. The lazy president ran for Lt. Governor but every else knew obviously she sucked so she got voted down by a landslide.
