Hey guys,

So today i just received news that I got kicked out of Finance because my grades arent so hot. I got to Baruch in New York. Without going into too much detail, I was on my 5th internship over the Spring when I was taking my Finance courses for the first time. And I really like the company so I worked hard, and they eventually recommended me a full time job. It was in Business Development in Viacom, different from finance; but I'm really happy about that. But the classes that I didnt do well in were after work, and I just didnt focus and sometimes didnt want to focus.. it was all my fault.

However, now that I've kicked out of Finance, I don't know if its possible to get that job, especially since I changed majors and my GPA has dropped.

I told my mother about the situation and boy is she ****ed. I still get to graduate on time though, but she has no value for Economics at all because of what happened to my sister. She graduated with a 3.8 GPA in Econ and now works as a handbag designer (a field she actually likes).

I don't know what I like, but due to my mother's disappointment, I sort of want to still have a strong background in finance. I just don't know what to do in order to achieve that.

I registered for the following courses so far:
1) Money and Banking
2) Monetary Economics
3) Economics and Business Forecasting

Is this a question I should be asking in school?.. I feel like the counselors won't be much help heh.. will these classes have anything on finance at least? is will it all be theoretical.. is a degree in econ marketable even? i dont know much about econ to be honest (plus finance since I didnt really focus much, but I know some thing at least)

my minor is in Anthropology however, its something that I actually like and I was an undergrad teaching assistant last year for an anthro course. my internships were basically grunt work, basic accounting stuff, and one with cold calling for a recruitment firm in wall street.

I'm just lost to be honest.. not sure what to do or whta to think.

also one last thing: ive been watching a lot of family ties, and Alex Keaton is an Econ major. i know that its wrong to make a big assumption like this, but assume back in the 80s Econ was a prestigious degree? why is it looked down now? what careers can be pursued by someone with an econ degree
