I’m going to be a Junior when hs starts up again, and I’m kind of confused about how you can be accepted into ASU. Apparently there are some schools that guarantee admission if you meet some requirements? I’ve always thought just about having a good, well-rounded college application (like most colleges are).
Maybe I read something wrong, but on the ASU website, it says “Freshman applicants who possess a high school diploma and meet the following requirements will be admitted to ASU.” (https://students.asu.edu/freshman/requirements)
To me, that seems like a guarantee. I already meet the requirements, so does that mean I’m guaranteed admission into ASU? My GPA is a 4.0 and I have good ECs and a good SAT score, but would I already be guaranteed admission because I met the requirements, regardless of my ECs, etc?
Those are the admissions requirements. It doesn’t appear to say you will “automatically” be admitted if you meet these requirements. You have to go through the application process. ASU might not put so much emphasis on ECs but they probably do have some importance. Good luck.
Yup! There are a bunch of state schools like that. U of Iowa gives you a formula for your “Regents Score” for instance. If you know your grade point, ACT/SAT score, and number of academic course you can figure out your Regents score and if you hit the target or above you will definitely be admitted. With your strong stats you will find quite a few schools that would guarantee you admission. Apply mid or late summer after junior year and you will enter your senior year with an admission or two under your belt!
Yes that should mean that if you apply, you will be admitted. There are several state schools that will guarantee you not only admission, but also merit aid if you reach a certain threshhold GPA and test score.
@jtreu3 - if you come back to CC, I would recommend looking into Barrett, The Honors College. I have 2 sons, one graduated, one class of '22. Lots of advantages to being in Barrett.
