D is a high school senior and is VERY interested in going to Dartmouth and majoring in international politics/relations, etc. She's gotten a likely letter (yay!!). I'm trying to convince her to go to Dartmouth instead of some other options (I wish I'd gone there myself instead of another Ivy League school many years ago). If you are at Dartmouth now, what would you recommend she do to make the most of her experience there? She will want to join a sorority, will want to study abroad, and get a great international relations-type internship during the D-plan "off" semester. Thanks so much -- really appreciate it!!

Feel free to ignore my reply! but I’m just curious to know which other Ivy League did you go to…?

One of the hallowed “HYP” group. Rather not say.

That pretty much says it all. Oh … she should join the rugby team.

All I can offer is this. D was accepted to H as well, but they were never in the running once Dartmouth matched the financial aid offer. When she visited Harvard and asked students why they chose it, the answer was “it’s Harvard” and none of them seemed happy. At Dartmouth, the students were happy and had reasons – like great professors.
