Knowing your ED Decision even earlier than the release date?

My friend just told me that you can usually tell if an ED school accepts you by whether or not they downloaded your Parents ED agreement on common app or if it just says "submitted".

This makes a lot of sense but I feel there'd be a lot of ruckus about this trick if it were true. I'm kind of tripping out because my ED school hasn't downloaded it and there's around 4 more days till decisions come out.

Anyone know anything/have opinions on this?

First I highly doubt this…just doesn’t plausible but instead another attempt at someone trying to beat the system, so I wouldnt’ worry too much. I know with my older daughter a few years ago, kids were finding out if they got in before notifications if they were able to sign in with their name as a student of that university. In other words the “accepted kids” would have been given email addresses for that schools domain. But to say a downloaded parent form means you are in sounds a bit ludicrous.
Also not sure where you even see that…on my sons app. it just says common app and writing supplement, nothing about the parent ED agreement. Good luck either way!

I hope this isn’t true, because mine just says submitted still

Don’t kill yourself on trying to read into these things. I doubt any school would be that obvious. Plus, I doubt there would be that much consistency between schools on that front. Just hang in there. You’ll know in a week or so.

The best way to test the theory would be to look at schools who have already released ED results and see what various students who did and did not get in see in their accounts. If you could get a number of students, that might tell us something, but it’s unlikely we’ll get that info voluntarily in time to do anything with it, and it’s also likely to vary by school.

Given all the schools out there, it wouldn’t surprise me that this would apply to at least a few, but which ones is anybody’s guess, so it’s therefore useless. Nice try though, as I’m sure there are more than a few who would like to be over with the waiting, me included.

Not true. Your ED school will download everything including your ED agreement. This does not indicate whether you are getting in. Your common app account might not update to show it has been downloaded - that’s just a glitch. You can double check this by looking at the portal on the school’s website (if your school has a portal). It will reflect the fact they received your ED agreement, even if your common app just shows submitted.

Hi I am concerned because my son said when he logs into the common app he sees only the date a common app was sent and the schools additional essay. He sees nothing about the parent form, so we are concerned about that. Where would that even be?

I hear if a pregnant woman gains less weight she is having a girl. lol We just have to wait and find out like everybody eles. As a parent of a kid who applied ED understand you wanting to know. A few more days!!!

Kwalker203 - The parents agreement is in the Recommendation section of the Common App, underneath the counselor & teacher rec’s, and is only enabled and visible at the single school that the student applied ED to, and the parent signed off on.

Yup… can’t read into this stuff to much… it will make you crazy:). Don’t worry too much if they have downloaded stuff, I think with the CA problems, they might of downloaded stuff but it is just not showing up for some reason. My S’s ED school emailed him yesterday to let him know that the parent signature on the ED form was not done, and for us to send it asap. It shows that it was downloaded on 11/16.

Thanks for everyone’s replies! Makes me feel a bit less anxious haha

Kwalker- Yeah it’s under the “Assign Recommenders” box all the way at the bottom

Hope this isn’t true. Just shows submitted in S’s application. All other parts are downloaded except parent form. So worried…

everything for me only says submitted (commonapp, supplement, and ED form), so hoping that this is actually a commonapp glitch. My app was definitely read!

We definitely can’t base anything off of that one word. In a couple more days you’ll know… you’re just gonna get more stressed over-analyzing every little thing instead of actually just waiting for the real date

A little late and I dont know if anyone else have info to prove or disprove this but…

i applied to Northwestern ED and my ED agreement was never downloaded.
I was rejected.

Im thinking that if it isnt downloaded, your not in, but if it is, it doesnt mean your in.
This actually does make sense though that they wouldnt download it if your rejected

The one fairly consistent online way of knowing that you’re “in” before the release date is whether or not you’re able to log into their admitted students’ website.

Mmm, I agree with renpei. They would need to make sure all the documentation was in order before admitting someone, right?

I was deferred ED from Cornell and my agreement was never downloaded either. One of my friends got into Princeton SCEA; I’ll ask her whether her agreement was submitted or downloaded on Monday.

I was accepted ED to Penn and my Parental ED agreement still shows up as Submitted.
