Konnichiwa-Mabuhay from a clueless Japanese-Filipino~

First of all, please ignore my post count... I've been lurking since ever and never had the urge to post until now =P Yes, it's quite sad that my first post is a chance post, but I'd like to receive some other points of view on me.

Personal Profile:

A Japanese-Filipino (senior, now) who spent his childhood (birth to Grade 1) in Japan, then moved to the Philippines from then till present. Studying in a private International School with very small class sizes (100++)

Target Schools:

These are my targeted colleges and universities, and what I currently rank them at the moment:

Duke University - Reach
Johns Hopkins - Reach
University of Pennsylvania - Reach
Cornell University - Reachy
Northwestern - Reachy
Drexel - Idealish
UC Irvine - Safety
UC Davis - Safetyish
Muhlenberg College - Safety
Albright College - Ultra Safety

Stats:

Unweighted GPA: 3.97
Weighted GPA: 4.05 (not very weighted eh)
Rank: Technically, my school isn't ranked, but they made a mistake with their naviance site and the rank was displayed by accident - 1/113. Otherwise, top 5%.
SAT I: CR - 740 Math - 680 W - 700 Total - 2120 (taken once only)
SAT II: not taken yet, intend to take Biology E/M and Math Level II
Intended Course of Study: Pre-med (Intending to double major in Biology / Theatre)

Work load:

Freshman -

English
Math Methods (Honors)
Biology and Environmental Science
History
Beginners Filipino

Intermediate Band
Religious Studies

Sophomore -

English Literature (Honors)
Math Methods (Honors)
Advanced Physics (sem. 1) / Chemistry (sem. 2)
Geography (sem. 1) / History (sem. 2)
PE
Advanced Band
Intermediate Filipino
Computer Programming

Junior -

IB English A1 HL
IB Chemistry HL
IB Biology HL
IB Psychology HL
IB Math Methods SL
IB Filipino A2 SL

Senior -

IB English A1 HL
IB Chemistry HL
IB Biology HL
IB Psychology HL

IB Filipino A2 SL

About IB, the amount of HLs you need to have for the IB Diploma is 3 - taking 4 is considered to be suicidal. Also, a double science HL is doubly suicidal - only 1 science course is required for the IB Diploma.

So yeah... I just wanted to know where exactly I would stand in terms of the US. If you'd comment, I would certainly reply back to any chance threads you may have =P. Thanks very much for your time.

Bump it Up!!!

BUMP neeeeeeeee

Shameless self bump T_T

Just a reminder that I would love to chance you back if you’d take the time to chance me!

Thanks very much.

Thanks for taking the time to chance me! I think you’re an extremely qualified applicant. The only low area I see in your profile would be your scores, if you could score in the 2200-2300’s with your super-score, that would give you a fantastic edge. Your essays count a lot as well, so make sure those are spot on!

Duke University - Reach
Johns Hopkins - Ideal*
University of Pennsylvania - Reach
Cornell University - Reachy
Northwestern - Reachy
Drexel - Ideal/Safety*
UC Irvine - Safety
UC Davis - Safety*
Muhlenberg College - Safety
Albright College - Ultra Safety

*represents a change I made in your initial rankings. I think youve got a good chance on about half of your top schools

Good application! You’re rank is great, and your ecs are fantastic. You show a well-rounded applicant. You should however improve your scores, although a 2120 is decent you may want it reaching 2200+. Good luck!

Duke University - Low Reach
Johns Hopkins - Low Reach/High Match
University of Pennsylvania - Reach
Cornell University - Mid Reach
Northwestern - Low Reach
Drexel - Ideal/Safety
UC Irvine - Safety
UC Davis - Safety
Muhlenberg College - Safety
Albright College - Ultra Safety

Thanks very much for the replies! =D

–Disguised Bump–

I think your list is great! You might want to bump up the status of Cornell to a “Low Reach” instead of simply a reach since I’ve seen people with worse stats get in (:

Good luck!
