i think it's a good idea

hey...i'm bummed i found this thread late, but to introduce myself, i'm from CA, born here...and deferred from Harvard :(

hey hey welcome^^

hello fellow krns~ I haven't been to this site since I came to college...lol
I'm a freshman at princeton now...any class of 2010 krns?

Accepted ED to NYU!!

I am Jung Hyun. Korean living in Japan, who attends an American international school.

Congrats jh!!

krbxtigerz, are you extremely happy in princeton? What's living there like? Is it more than you hoped for? It's my dream school.. but I'm not even applying there since im so underqualified lol. maybe for graduate school haha

Oh man I just saw in a Korean website... a Korean sophomore premed in the States wrote on a website that in order to go to an Ivy, you need a score of 1400 in the old SAT and 2000 in the new one. lol. I would just die to go to an Ivy with those scores... sigh at least 2230 didnt buy me a ticket for Yale... hopefully my improved score from december will increase my chances.. GAWD... Seriously, unless I do a significant research or something, it seems it's just ridiculously hard to get into any of the top-tiers.

Lol..they are American colleges after all. Homeland people first, then foreigners. Rich foreigners.

Things have changed a lot in the past five years. I think the Korean pool has more than doubled in that time. And it's growing faster still.

accepted to Harvard EASC! with financial aid!

wow. congrats. I hope you enjoy it there. Yale wasn't kind enough to let me in early, but I guess I'll have to pray to God for more luck in the RD round.

I hope you get rejected everywhere except Cornell...... :p jk

gee thanks JR. that really helps -_-a...
neways... what's wrong with all the krns? BE ACTIVE!!
COME OUT AND POST!! :p

im hungry. im gonna go get some cereal soon.

hey congrats on harvard! I dont even have the courage to apply there.. (embarrased of my lack of ECs and my grades)

Are there many koreans on cc?

urghh.. why am i still online? i should be sleeeeeping rite now...
i live in CA and it's like 2:14AM.
it's winter break rite now and i sleep around 2~3 and wake up around 11... hehe// this horrendous cycle has been going on for more than a week.

and OMG.. the talk about my family moving to Korea has been going on FOREVER!(kinda sick of it now.. i was so excited about it last year, but gave up on it already!) and i believe that we ARE going to move to Korea probably next summer after I graduate from high school.....
the only bad thing IS, I will probably go to college here in the stateS! and i don't get to live in Korea unless i go abroad/exchanged or something like that.

I haven't been to Korea for a long time and I'm DYING to go there...
I heard SO MANY THINGS have changed///
I would probably go this summer for a visit though:p

anyways. gluck to every krns on CC who are applying for colleges in states. I'm just going a little crazy with my apps these days... and with the decisions flying home next march/april.

I CAN'T WAIT!!!!

Just be glad that you didn't have to go to a Korean high school in its senior year ;)

hi everyone, my name is jacob park 박재희, and i'm what you might call a banana (8th year living in burnaby bc canada). when i first came here koreans were a rare sight but that has changed drastically over the years. regrettably i was not able to reserve my korean identiy and with the recent influx of korean international students i can't help but feel a little alienated :P. the only koreans i am in touch with are relatives, a few select classmates who can actually understand what i'm saying (whether it be english or my pitiful attempt at korean), and my church congregation. i hope to make more friends of korean ethnicity in the future:).

btw, how do you guys feel about the unfortunate Hwang Woo-suk scandal?

@jrcho88, krbxtigerz, xjayz - congratulations on cornell jrcho88! ivy league sunbaenim dul, any advice/secrets you can share with your fellow korean underclassmen :)?

Hwang woo suk.... really let me down. How could he sell out his integrity in such a stupid way.

But he is a true patriot. A man of science for Korea. Hopefully he can bounce back from this stupid scandal and work again in peace.
