ahh no one care about prestigeous programs in Korea...
I am into CMU compsci but my parents want me to go to UPenn SEAS...
Hopefully I get into Caltech and solve all my problems...

lol.
I think CMU's fine. Just make sure you print out the fact that CMU is one of the best for Comp Sci. in the States. lol.

guyz.. how do you study for the SAT CR part??ㅠㅠ
my math and writing is on the 700 line but my CR cannot go above 600...ㅠㅠ
more shockingly, my recent practice test shows how i am not prepared for the May SAT..
guyz seriously, can anyone tell me their technique for CR?
I just want my verbal to be on the 600 line.. no more...ㅠ_ㅠ

Well, if you concentrate on techniques, the furthest you will get to is somewhere in the 600's... I think, it's all about active reading skills and concentration that matters. Also, read your questions carefully. There are LOTS of trick questions... If you are a junior right now, think about taking the test after the summer. Start reading SAT-type articles and increase your comprehension skills. Finish rest of the SATII's first, and plan your SATI carefully. Although some may disagree, your actual reading skill does matter quite a lot in the CR section it seems like.

I'm in Seoul.
Until August I'm basically unemployed. TT

^ where are you gonna be heading?

hpm twista: Yeah as etherealkev said, reading skills matter a LOT. I've noticed that when I read those boring passages, I would only read with my eyes, not with my mind. And so I would end up going back to passage for each question, which took up A LOT of time.
Just force yourself to read boring passages - politics, history, art, etc... And you'll get a hang of it after awhile.
Plus my level of vocabs was really low before I started studying for the sats and I ended up having to memorise heaps of words. Some may disagree that vocabs arnt important but I found that if I finish vocab in like 4min (~10 questions?), I have more time to work on the passages (my weak bit).

You just gotta try out differnt methods. You may like reading the questions first before reading the passage. Or maybe your thing is more of a non-whole-passage-reading thing: just going back to the passage for every question (which doesnt work for me).
Or maybe your thing is more like spending a lot of time reading the passage quickly and whizzing through the questions (my kind of thing).

You just have to try out different methods to know what's good for you. And always time yourself. Make sure you're always under time pressure and constraint.

any NYUers?

Hi guys,
I'm going to Cornell next year.

Are you guys thinking about military service?

Well, technically, I'm a Canadian citizen and American resident... but I always wanted to go to military. Is there a way for me to join after finishing college even if you had to give up the Korean citizenship? It really is a pity that Korea doesn't allow dual citizenship... I mean... come on... Taiwan works fine with it... why can't Korea as well?
