Yes, I can't get on to see the new photos. What's up?

Our internet service provider here on LI shut down accidentally today. The school's network was fine, we could send emails to eachother, but not to the outside and no internet access. It was a tragedy. That being said I stil can not get on AOL Instant Messenger. Something is up with it, last year I used AIM 6 (version 6 off the website) with no problems, this year it won't connect. Then I downloaded AIM Pro, worked like a charm until the internet went down and even now that it is back us I can not get online. Oh well...

Oh no, now all communication with our kids is cut off...what's a mother to do? LOL. Thanks for the update DavyG. I think SKYPE still works, if you don't have that you can get it skype.com

Someone should tell the IT guys to fix the AIM problem...it was down all during summerschool too. Anyway its off to the middle east for me anyway

son just emailed to say that AIM and Yahoo were both down for him (2011 PC) . email was obviously working. classes start tomorrow.

it wouldn't do any good to tell the IT guys anything... i'll hold my tongue on my further thoughts.
:)

So is Skype allowed? I am a Skype newbie, actually I can't even be classified as a newbie as I haven't loaded it yet. Do tell Skype users whats the story?

skype is working now, where aim and yahoo are not. skype is very similar. the video side works alot like ichat (mac application) pretty simple. you need to knw the other person's skype address. (my son's was the same as his usmma email. don't know if that was preset or not)
he was able to hear me (and I heard him) and he could see me on my webcam (the laptops issued do not have webcams)

Skype is easy, just like AIM. I chatted last night and it worked fine! My son used the same SN as is AIM so it was easy to find him!
