my DS is trying to decide between KU, OU, and Arkansas… I know they are all about the same academically, but could anyone chime in on which one would be better for student life and which one may have a better reputation for applying to law school after undergrad? he is accepted to honors school at all 3. he has visited all 3 and likes them all … lol.
From a cost perspective, Arkansas is the lowest for us …(by about 4k/yr) , with OU and KU about the same . all are affordable for us and he has scholarships at all three. He is social and wants to go greek and likes school sports and spirit.
any info would be greatly appreciated…thanks
All of those are fine. He can pick the cheapest one, or if money truly doesn’t matter and your family can afford law school too, then he can choose by the mascot or the color of the buildings, or whatever strukes his fancy.
If going to Arkansas means no debt until law school, then thats where he should go. Law school admission is mostly numbers based. He needs a really, really good GPA and LSAT score. If he puts in the work, he can get those anywhere.
If Greek life, school spirit and sports are to be the differentiators, then OU wins.
I know about sports at all 3 and they are all crazy but fun. Greek I know more about KU and it is strong but not over the top. You may go with cost and pick Arkansas. I would pick Arkansas or KU over OU but that is probably a personal thing (yes for me saying pick KU is hard since my son is at KSU - lol). For law school they are going to look at all of them about the same. KU is near Kansas City and has a lot of contacts with firms there and from what I have heard with several in Chicago. Go where he thinks he can get the best GPA and the debt is the lowest so law school is affordable.
Good luck!
