lab materials

what exactly do i need to bring to chemlab prior to coming on campus? do i need to buy lab goggles and a lab apron for genchem lab? or is it provided in the lab fee?

I read that we shouldn’t bring anything. They give you some of what is needed and want you to get specific materials for other things (lab book). You will find out in your first lab class.

If you go to your WebSTAC account, then click the “class schedule” link (under the “Courses and Registration” Tab), and select Fall 2012, you should come to a page with a green button about halfway down which says “Order Textbooks.” This will take you to a page which will list all required materials for all your classes, and allow you to buy them from the bookstore (don’t do this, except for WUSTL-specific products). It appears as though this year, you only have to buy the lab manual. In years past, they also required students to buy a lab notebook and goggles.

^I’ve never heard of the bookstore selling the goggles. It has always* been through the chem department.

*always being at least 5 years.

bears123 - I’d wager a guess that the course fee covers at least your goggles. Don’t get anything now. Wait to hear from the professors/TAs.

Well, I bought my goggles at the bookstore last year… Maybe that was just a one time thing or something?

My mistake then. Either way, I’m sure that’s what the lab fee is going towards, cause there’s no way goggles aren’t required for lab anymore.
