Lack of Science Courses in Junior Year

My nephew took enriched biology, chemistry and physics all in his Sophomore year in high school. As of now, he has no science courses scheduled for his entire Junior year, but would take AP Science courses in his senior year. I think this is a bad idea - Shouldn't he take at least one science course - such as AP Biology this year?

Not necessarily. I think that college admissions officers have enough brains to interpret an unusual schedule like his.

However, if he is interested in taking SAT Subject Tests in any of the sciences, it might make sense to take the AP course in that science as a junior, if it fits into his schedule. But he may have other courses that he must take. After all, if he took three sciences as a sophomore, he must have had to postpone other things, like math or history.

I agree with Marian that from a college admissions standpoint, he’s fine. But why, if he is enough of a science person to take 3 science classes his sophomore year and planning on taking multiple AP science courses his senior year, not going to take any his junior year? Is there some reason?
